Buying Advice Purchasing a tractor on a credit card?

   / Purchasing a tractor on a credit card? #41
For the record I do use 5 tablespoons of coffee to make a 16oz cup of coffee every morning.. If I want weak coffee I drink tea...

NOTHING worse, than weak coffee. I'd rather drink bath water.

I would put bad coffee one step ahead of weak coffee, assuming said weak coffee is of high quality. But than again, I'm a coffee snob, so... :cool2:

I have asked this question several times recently,, and, I keep hearing 6 tablespoons to 16 OZ water,,,

Well, I use 2 1/4 tablespoons of medium roast PEETS coffee,, in 16 OZ of water,, in a french press.

I stir several times with a spoon during the minute and a half I wait for the coffee to "brew"

The resultant coffee is strong enough to make your ears wiggle,,,
it is 2X as strong as any gas station coffee I have EVER had,,

The liquid is totally opaque as it pours out into the cup,, not totally black, but, you can not see any light through the liquid,,
I consider it VERY strong.

Could the french press make the coffee that much stronger?

I've always wondered how one of those worked. It seems counterintuitive to put boiling water in coffee but people who have presses love them. Weak coffee, strong coffee, bad coffee... anathema to me is cold coffee. That's why I have percolators, although your press would be as good or better.

As far as strong; I remember the old gas station coffee machines that had syrup and water, you'd put a quarter in and the stuff coming out would be like tar.

It just might..

My grandfather used to some kind of grinder attached to the back of a door, he ground Bolka and that was the best coffee I ever drank..

On occasion some of these threads and subjects make people think of fond memories.. My grandfather has been gone for 37 years but I'll never forget that coffee...

I generally only drink one cup a day. But the best thing I ever did was buy an insulated type pot, coffee maker. Nothing worse than having coffee sit there on heat for hours, except when the flies get into it! Now that was always an unexpected treat. Usually in the last gulp or so.

Just watching some financial stuff. So the financial trainwreck has supposedly begun!

Sad. On another note, they say the average American could not lay their hands on a thousand bucks in an emergency!

One thing I haven't seen mentioned is the dispute process on CCs. Dealer refusals to take CCs may not be just about fees. Things can get messy for them if a buyer files a CC dispute over some disagreement.

Good point.

That seals it for me!
I ALWAYS knew I was above average!

I can do it electronically with a few clicks. Greenbacks (which aren't all green anymore) would take a couple of days.

This is another favorite statement by many of our politicians that I don't believe. They also told us that most bankruptcies are caused by health costs, most mass shootings are done by white men and we only had 10 years to save the planet (30 years ago).

I often wonder how they actually measure/assess metrics to make these sorts of statements. Nevertheless, living in a rural depressed area, the inability of a large swath of individuals to afford an unexpected cost of $1,000 rings true here.

Often times, I think that shortcoming is transient, though. Pretty much through my middle-to-late 20's that was a true statement. But, that did not indicate I was destined to a life of abject poverty due to poor decisions. Rather I was in school for a prolonged period of time getting advanced degrees that have benefited me in the long run.

Wall Street and the media foresaw and predicted eight of the last two financial meltdowns. Seems also that those who lack the 'extra money' to save for 'emergencies' are those who overreact and/or go off the deep end first. They all seem to have cookie jars, and vs seeing them as half empty they tend see them as half full, AKA gonna be, and full enough to pinch when "no one's looking". Fine.

IMO nary a one has a big enough jar, and a concert is not an emergency. Being lone wolf for nearly 40 let's me do my own housework, but I dine alone far too often. (I have reasons not to complain about the tab.)

Credit is a tool when used wisely, but why lug a box-full year after year? Debt is usually voluntary. I asked that my credit limit be lowered 'for security reasons'. Bank staff said "raise it, it's insured".
