Push with 3 point?

Didn't use the backblade this year (needed the ballast box weight for traction more then the blade).
If the accumulation is more then 6"-8" (depends on if the snow is dry and fluffy or wet and heavy), I prefer to drive forward for the first passes. It's easier on the tractor. The blade will be a 1/2" or so off the surface.
After that, it's a combination of pushing in reverse (pushing the piles back further) and some final scraping (going forward).
RalphVA does have a point about the tires compressing the snow, but that's something I can live with.

Very informative. Thanks for the simple question that became a helpful thread. I push snow and other stuff in reverse with box and regular blades all the time, but I always go slow. Good tips!

I bent one of my lower bars pretty bad pushing a grader blade. Neighbor did same to both of his on a small Kubota.

I'd be willing to bet those smaller units used arms with a bend to get the width needed for big implements? My TZ25 was horrible in this aspect when pushing a box blade. They would bend at the lift pivot holes, the weak point. I got really good at removing them and using a press to straighten them back out. I had intended on making a "T" cross section of them by welding on some 1/2x1 flat stock on the bottoms, but fixed the problem the right way instead..... Bought a bigger tractor!

I have repaired my boxblade, damaged when backing up into a pile a dirt. It probably won't ever break again, since I decided to over-do it in the repair end. I extended the front arms a little (about six inches) in order to get more height when trying to smooth a pile of dirt. Top link isn't quite long enough for heavy angles, but works fine in "normal mode". The next post I make about tearing up something while backing, will probably be my lift arms, since the original boxblade used 1/2 x 3 inch flat bar for the front arms. I added a piece to it, bolted and welded next to it, full length, of 1.125 x 3 inch. Quite a bit of overkill, but I didn't have a piece of flatbar in the 3/4 I wanted to use, so I made some flatbar out of a piece of leftover plate by slicing off a couple of pieces. Took a while on my Bridgeport, but I had all day, since the wife is gone to a meeting in North Georgia. Time well spent, having fun in the shop instead of running the streets.
