Putting in steel fence posts with loader

I'm just west of you, in between Snohomish and Lake Stevens. I've noticed a lot of WA members also.

You take the top coupler off, place the base/tube assy where you want the post, drop the post into the tube, then put the coupler back on. The tube is sized so that the spade from a tpost fits inside it. The coupler on the top is to keep the post vertical.

I cut the tube so that the entire unit with the coupler is a bit shorter than I want the fence posts to be. So I push it in with the loader until a couple inches is sticking out. Then I am done. The loader doesn't actually touch the tube itself at all.

I do have really nice soil here. If it was extremely hard or full of rocks it might not work very well.

Thanks for the idea, photos and comments. My brother and I use a metal pipe with a base welded on bottom end to set post at correct depth. It still requires two people. Most of the time I use my Quiktach hayspear instead of the bucket to push with. I'm going to build one like yours.

Oh okay; I finally got it. All I've used before is a spring loaded driver. Works alright, but takes a while. Where I use T-posts it's mostly pretty soft soil, as in sandy loam. It looks like I'll build something like this. It'll sure beat agravating the tendonitis and arthritis from banging nails by hand when young and dumber. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif
