putting teeth on a bucket

I have a 72in viring finish bucket. I need to put a set of teeth on it, I concidered a tooth bar but the cost seems high for what they are. i have a single row of holes drilled in the bucket from the factory. I found teeth that bolt on but i would need to drill a second hole in the bucket.

My question is, are there manufactured teeth designed to be bolted on with one bolt and catch the edge to stay straight?

I've only seen bolt on cutting edges, any teeth I have seen had to have a base welded in place.

Not saying they don't exist, just never seen single bolt on teeth.

If you decide to weld go weld on, make sure you get the correct shanks. The shanks for a backhoe bucket are designed to go underneath, loader bucket shanks weld on top of the cutting edge, putting the tooth in line with the bottom of the bucket, keeping a flat surface for grading.

If you find a tooth that fits your bucket and it has a hole that alliens up with the holes in you bucket then weld a piece of flat bar between each tooth so the teeth are conected and that will keep the teeth stright during diging.

I would not weld them to the bucket cause then when you dont want them you will not be able to take them off! :thumbsup:

Doesn't seem like you would use that for digging. Adding teeth to a bucket is for making it a better digger in hard ground. That looks more like a landscape surface tool.

A toothbar may seem expensive until you see how much quicker you can grade and dig. I think that it's your best bet.

Correct you are. The Ratchet Rake is a handy tool and works great for the uses it was designed for (and a few more), but it's a terrible tool for digging. Throw in a little too much moisture and it's not effective for any kind of ground engagement except gravel.
