Re:Quality Farm/Central Tractor-End is Near...

Mark, you didn't miss much. IMHO it was not one of the better run CT stores. Hopefully the TSC will be well run. I just hope they don't overextend by opening more than they can organizationally and financially handle.

A number of years ago there was a TSC in Homer, just outside Cortland, and that was a good store. I usually went to CT because it was closer to where I live, between Ithaca and Cortland. We do most of our shopping in Cortland because they usually have what we want.

Re:Quality Farm/Central Tractor-End is Near...

I see they're almost finished building a new TS store in Bay City (MI) ... it'll be convenient as it's so close ... but I cannot understand why they build these stores so doggone small and then crowd them so full. This new building isn't even half the size of the nearest QFF store that closed. The current Saginaw TSC is so crowded that I really hate to shop there ... hard to browse without stepping over people ...

Sounds like TSC is taking over a lot of the bankrupt Farm and family, I just hope they dont get in to deep and end up the same way.

Re:Quality Farm/Central Tractor-End is Near...

The Central Tractor here in Lancaster PA was one of the first to close. Right after they anounced the closeing they had a bunch of managers from other stores in the area in pulling merchandise for their stores. I had never seen anyone in our store move so fast. Stripped most of the good stuff in a flash. There is a TCS on the east side of town. Now some of the folks from the Central Tractor work there. I remember Bird saying how friendly and knowledgeable the people at his TCS store were. Must be a southern thing. Our guys can usually point you to the right asle and if there is a bar code on it they can often tell you the price but it is best not to push them much beyond that. TCS seems to be shuffling people around, getting ready to open new stores. I heard that they were scouting out locations to build new stores. I hope that they don't get overextended. Maybe now that we are coming out of the "recession" they will be lucky. I worry about only having one farm store company.
