THe Vestal store was a pretty large store, and I'm told that TSC plans to cut the space in half before they reopen. I wouldn't be surprised if they did that with other stores. From the sound of it, they have a "recipe" for a small store that is packed with stuff - sorta the opposite of CT during the last year's "death throes". As long as the stuff they have is what we need, I don't care if they are 1/2 the size, since I don't need to get dog leashes or overpriced outlets and switches from them - for that, I can go to any number of other places. As long as they remember what the "T" in TSC stands for, they should do OK. CT forgot what their "T" stood for, IMHO/w3tcompact/icons/eyes.gif

Actually Central Tractor never had that problem... it was Quality Farm that took them over and set to light the world on fire... but ended up dousing themselves... /w3tcompact/icons/frown.gif

I know our local CT stores are rather large~ 20k sq.ft...?, so it will be interesting to see if they remain the same size or get downsized... I noticed on TSC's site, they plan on new 18K size stores in the new ones... we'll soon find out within the next 60 days...

You guys save your money for those Grand Opening Specials coming up... I'd expect some blowout prices... but on the other hand... Tractor Supply Company doesn't have any competition left... /w3tcompact/icons/crazy.gif

I will be there opening day, whenever that is..... I need a Post hole digger and a Rotary mower. John, was it you who purchased a post hole digger from them? if it was what brand was it and how did you like it?

No, I purchased a Leinbach Post Hole Digger from an auction... like TresCrows puts it..."Just because..." one of those days... I either paid $400 or $450... but have seen them as low as $325. {of course after my purchase.../w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif}

I've only used it a hand full of times, my friends have more usage with it than I... /w3tcompact/icons/blush.gif

But, I will say it's "much better and faster" than using my old shovel... /w3tcompact/icons/eyes.gif

Sitting at the license branch waiting to renew my drivers license I took the time to organize my wallet. Cleaned out lots of stuff including my ThanQ card from Quality Farm. I guess it's a safe bet it won't do me much good in the future /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

You're right, of course, but our CT kept that name for more than a year after they were "overtaken" by QFF, thus my conclusion that Quality neither brought that characteristic, nor kept the "T" in CT. Oh well.

The people that took the hit the hardest were the long term employees at CT that could only stand by, watch, and shake their heads week after week as more and more customers complained about dwindling stock and a changing product mix that all but eliminated their identity from the local retail marketplace. Hopefully some of them will be able to hang on with TSC.

They put up the new signs today in coldwater mi, the store will be called Family Farm & Home. My understanding is that 3 stores are opening with that name
