Kubota 5040 with FEL
I am pretty sure that I am going to go with the ATI grapple hook for my Kubota 5040. I am now trying to figure out what my options are to control it. What is everyone using for theirs? I was thinking about trying to use my rear remotes for a while and then add some remotes on the front later on. If I end up adding remotes what is the most logical way to set it up so that operating it is the most logical way. In other words I've seen some buttons on the loader handle that are for sale and other setups. I was wondering what everyone would recommend? Also is there any downside to me using my rear remotes for a while? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I am using the remotes for my grapple and tree shear. The remote I use for the grapple does not have any QD's on the rear, it is plumbed forward. The second remote is teed with rear QD's and also forward QD's at the loader mount and front cross bar. Likewise for the third remote. Since I am not using my tractor to make money the small extra time to drop my hand and operate the grapple is no matter. Plus it is all neater.

I use one of the remotes for my grapple. Very little time loss in dropping hand down to operate as Vernon stated. My remotes do have QD but i leave the hoses attached on the remote if taking off the grapple and secure the open ends with tinfoil or other suitable material to keep out dust-dirt etc, securing them to the side of the loader so they dont get banged around. I am sure having the grapple plumbed to your loader handle would be nice but certainly not necessary.

leeinmemphis, I'm sure my setup is nothing special but I don't know so I'll lay it out for you on the off chance that its unique. I need front and back hydraulics depending on what I'm doing so I had my dealer plumb me some lines with disconnects on both front and rear, the lines are normal rubber hydraulic lines but they stay attached and are only connected when my root grapple is mounted in front, when my hydraulic auger is mounted on the rear I just disconnect the lines in the rear and plug in the auger lines in back. It has worked well for me and I agree with the previous poster about my root grapple if I were doing it for a living I'd probably want the controls on my loader handle but its not that much trouble to reach down for my remote lever to open and close the grapple matter of fact I'm very comfortable with the setup as it is no frills and simple pull back opens push forward closes and when its hooked to my auger back is up and forward is down.

I have two rear remotes on my 5030. I run lines from the rear under the cab and attached soild QD above the loader QD. When I use the grapple I connect the rear and front remotes. This has worked well and fast for me.
