Hello, I have a question. On my tractor all four of my tires keep going flat on me (not at the same time) my yard is not tire friendly so I am contemplating on what to do. I am considering foam filling the tires but have heard both good and bad things about them. But I am also thinking of switching to Ag tires to see if that will make the difference. Right now there is industrial tires on it and I know the leaks are from pinholes from various little things. Would the tread from the Ag tires make it better cause of the depth of the treads making it hard for things to puncture it or am I stuck foaming to solve the problem.
Thanks in advance.

I tried that but it works until the next hole, I have replaced the tires all around 4 times in a year.

I would think foam filled tires the best way to go. I understand this to be very expensive. I have never had good results with Slime either. I quit using Slime many years ago.

I bought a BX2660 2+ years ago and HAD leak problems with both front tires. One of them was checked by a tire shop, bead re-sealed, etc... and it continued to leak slowly. So I replaced it with a tube. The other continued to slowly leak for another year. One time I removed it and placed it in a large tub, and noted very small bubbles all the way around the rim. Finally, I had a tube put in it. Now I have NO leaks in the front tires. I had gotten very tired of having to fill the front tire(s) before each use.

I have seen a thick rubber liner shield that can be placed inside the tire between the tire and tube. I don't know if they even make these anymore.

The front right tire has a tube in it and it still developed a leak, little things in the ground come up and puncture them. I have slimed all four and it does work but I go through so much slime cause of the frequency of the leaks. I have done the test of putting them in water to see where the leaks are and they are on the bottom treaded part not on the bead.

Corey, you may be on the right track with foam if you have tried everything else without success. I had Bar tires on my first BX and Industrials on my present one and couldn't really tell any difference in puncture resistance as I had no trouble with either.

Years ago when we were first clearing a part of our farm with a lot of Locust trees, we used a pink tire sealer, I can't remember the name and it worked really well on our tractor, a Case 955 and my ATV. We eventually had to replace the tires on the tractor due to so many holes, but while they had pink spots all over them, they still didn't leak. I still have the original rear tires on my 87 ATV, thorns and all.

I don't put sealer in any of my tires now as we are pretty much finished with the Locust thorns.

Good luck.

I have good luck with Slime in my ATV and self contained trail mower it pulls. We have lots of thissel and thorn apples. You really have to put plenty in each tire to keep it working. I would think you would need an awful lot for a tractor tire. Foam would be a forever fix.

corey, What is so unfriendly in your yard that's causing that many flats ???? Many years back I had a riding mower that had issues with the tire bead & wheel on both front tires.. What type of tractor do you have?? Maybe you can Post a few pictures of your tire unfriendly yard and tractor tires??? Who is doing the flat repairs???

Black Locust trees are about the worst thing I have ever came across for puncturing tires. We had a lot of these where we used to live. I don't miss them one bit.

Well mostly is old buildings where the shingles are blowing off of the roofs cause of high winds and along with the shingles go the not so nice little nails that go with them. I walk through the lawn before mowing and pick up the shingles before operating but don't always get everything and I end up limping the tractor back to the garage for tire repairs. I will find some pics of the yard and post. My tractor is the infamous BX2660. The dealer fixed the first flat cause of the famous one front leaky tire, but a local tire shop had to replace the other times.

To do 4 acres of lawn with? I have seen nails end up in places that I have no idea how they could fly that far.

Did you check the link? You could mount the sweeper on the front of your tractor and sweep as you mow. Just a thought.

I would need to be able to get it locally cause I don't have a credit card for purchases online.

Before going to foam,I would consider an inner tire liner/with inner tubes. I did this with very good results. My local tire and welding shop performed this task. Good luck

I don't know much about foaming tires but I think that's the direction you should go. I would also look into a magnet as sooner or later a pet or somebody could step on a nail and get hurt.

I will check out the liner. It's pretty bad I have to wear steel toe and plate boots in my yard

That definitely sucks. The magnet idea sounds worth trying. Maybe a local welding shop could fab something together for you at a reasonable cost.

Take them a picture and see what they say. Maybe it could be attached to your FEL or to an implement in the rear and travel backwards.
