Hi All,

I have a 5125R on order. The tractor should be delivered around May 2018. In anticipation of getting it, I`ve been reading over the operators manual available online. As I was looking at the lighting section, I noticed two paragraphs which referenced "additional front and rear work lights" that could be "added" to work in conjunction with the factory 2 fronts & 2 rears. Does anyone know anything about these? I cant find any information via the online parts catalog, and I made some phone calls to the JD info center with no luck. The 5M tractor we just sold (and will be replacing with the 5125R) DID have additional front and rear work lights. I purchased the kits myself and installed them. I would like to have as much additional lighting as possible on this new machine. A lot of my loader work is done in the evenings and into dark, and I do a lot of my pasture mowing after evenings. The additional lighting is always extremely helpful and I feel its a worthwhile upgrade. Any info you have would be greatly appreciated!

The representative I talked to at JD said that their copy of the operators manual was a revised copy from the one I was able to access online. They couldn't find any reference to these additional lights. If there are any current 5R series tractor owners on here, could someone take a quick look at their operators manual and see if anything is listed under the front and rear worklights? "SECTION 40 - ELECTRICAL AND LIGHTING OPERATION" I`m curious to see if maybe this was removed from the updated version of the manual.

I took 2 snap shots of the online manual as a reference. You`ll see the phrase about the additional lighting near the bottom where it says "NOTE:" with the yellow exclamation point. MANY THANKS!!!

I think there is only currently 3 options, convert the halogens to led, a beacon light, and a loader lights package. The conversion to led is just nuts and bolts but since this in an R series tractors if/when additional light choices come available they will need a software download for the tractor to recognize. So I don't know that I would count on just wiring in additional lighting in this application.

Yeah I saw that when I did the spec for my new one online. My current order includes the beacon light, the loader light package (both the ones mounted on the loader itself and the additional loader lights mounted to the front corner posts on the cab , the full LED work light package, and LED headlights. Im wondering what theyre referencing with when they say additional lights can be added? These tractors are so new that there is very little info currently out there for them. I know there was at least one member here who had recently purchased a 5R but I cant remember who it was. I wish I could see the page in their operators manual for lights to see if their book says the same as the one online. I also looked at the European spec version of these tractors but didnt see any reference to additional roof mounted lights. I wouldnt even think about wiring anything extra in. I would be buying OEM packages for sure. No need to take the risk with a $100,000+ tractor. :)

I bet there will be more options as time goes by, the r series in the 5xxx chassis is still a brand spanking new unit that is fundamentally quite a bit different from the e or m series tractors in the same chassis. From what I understand, for now, you have exhausted all of the oem lighting options.

Are these 5125 available in OS Model ?

Curious. What features on the R series got you to switch from the M series tractor?

I am looking at a similar size tractor and a straight side by side feature comparison seems hard to find.

The transmission options are the biggest difference between the two models.

This chart shows some differences between 2018 5M vs 2017 5R. Couldn't find anything with 2018 5R specs.
