Question for 5R Series Tractor Owners

There were several features that made me switch to the R.

#1 was the transmission. My farm borders a state road. Often times I have to come out of the field and travel the road to the other areas of the farm. The 5075M I had previously had the 16/16 transmission. The gears were synchronized but the ranges were not. Mine was a 2012 Model year, in subsequent years both the gears and ranges were synchronized. Having to stop to shift ranges makes it really difficult to get from field speed to road speed in any rapid pace. This makes it dangerous for me because traffic doesn稚 yield or respect farm implements these days. The new R is fully electronic and the gear shifts and range shifts are simple. Push button and done.

#2. Loader integration. The tractor I bought will primarily used as a loader tractor for handling round bales. The panoramic roof option gives you a really nice wide sunroof. This gives unparalleled vision when the loader is in the fully raised position. I値l enjoy this feature when I知 stacking round bales in the barn. In addition to th roof, the R tractor offers the electronic joystick with third function. I知 a fan of electro-hydraulic controls. It takes less effort and in my opinion makes the operation of the machine more enjoyable.

#3. Horsepower and weight. This tractor will be a better fit across all jobs in my operation. The added weight and horsepower over the comparable M tractors should allow it to perform better. If I need this tractor to do some light tillage, or run a discbine, it can easily do so.

#4. Premium cab. All the other larger tractors I have are premium level tractors. At the time when I bought my M, the increased creature comforts of the nicer cab weren稚 available. Having 20 years experience running the high-end tractors, when the opportunity to upgrade this tractor to a comparable level was enticing. Yes they are much more expensive, but in my humble opinion, if it痴 what you enjoy, and you can make it work financially, then it痴 a good move. I spend countless hours in these things on a daily basis so a little indulgence is warranted.

When my tractor comes in I am going to do an in depth full video review. I値l go over all the items and differences and post the video on YouTube. I値l keep you all up to date. I stopped at the dealership tonight by the way. I looked at the 5R they have sitting on the lot. It has threaded bosses both front and rear near the standard work lights so I知 assuming this is where the optional extra lights would mount. I also looked in the users manual. They still say 登ptional extra lights can be added / ordered so I知 still on the hunt fothe where / what these are.... we shall see!

The 5R series is not available in an OOS configuration at this time as far as I know. I doubt it will be either. If the 5 series follows the other tractor series, only the E and M models will be available in OOS

No problem Kenny.

There are a bunch of other reasons the R tractors are more expensive. Youæ±*e getting a lot of technical advancements for the money. Closed center (pressure and flow compensating) hydraulics is one of them. Although it is an option, that feature alone is worth it for someone who does loader work a lot. LED lighting options are nice too.

The cab is significantly different from the M as well. They did a good job of increasing operator comfort. I知 anxious to get some seat time in the new one. I値l get that review done once the machine is in. Should be delivered first part of May.

I have been convinced on the R Series!

Separate issue... What should I be able.to expect as selling price goes? I went through the options and got the msrp, but what is a reasonable selling price? I am planning on a cash payment. 5% less% ? 10%? I can find invoice price listed for the 5090R that I am interested in.

My final price was about 22.5% less than the MSRP listed on the online builder but there were some costs not calculated in such things as tractor setup labor, tire ballasting, etc. There were also some incentives being offered when I put the order in for mine. I got $1,000 off any 5 series tractor and $500 bonus promotion. Ive also bought two 6420 tractors, one 5075M, three diesel Gators, one Kuhn GA7822 dual rotor rake, a 535 MoCo, a 275 disc mower, and an x758 ultimate diesel lawn tractor from this same dealer in the past 15 years so there was some loyalty discount in there too (not bragging at all, just wanted to put it in perspective)

I can tell you this for certain. I specd out an equal Massey Ferguson 5713SL and when the discounts finally worked out, I got the Deere about $10k cheaper than the Massey quote. I was pleasantly surprised.

You will not be disappointed by going with the R model. The price tag is hefty. I will not argue that fact. But you truly are getting more for your money. Everything about the premium Deere tractors is better. If youre able to make the money work, and you enjoy a nice piece of equipment, they are a pleasure to put in the field. We spent the money and got the premium 6420 tractors in 2003 and 2006 respectively and since that time, I have only ever had to send the 2003 back to the dealer once. They fixed the issue and both tractors have been incredibly reliable. Although I will give myself a small pat on the back as well because I run a tight ship when it comes to maintenance. I have no doubt that plays a part in keeping them running right for years and years.

I will keep you posted as I hear more about my machine. I am anxious to do a complete video review of it when it comes in. As of yet, there arent any real in-depth videos on the R series tractors on YouTube. (Or at least not in English anyway) these tractors are very popular in Europe from what I can tell.

No problem. I hope things work out for you. Do me a favor though, when you talk to your salesman, ask him about the extra front and rear work lights that they mention in the operators manual. I still cannot find any info on them. (See my original post in this thread for a detailed explanation)

If they are able to give you some info please share it!
