I have a spray bottle of WD 40 that I'm trying out this winter instead of silicone. So far it seems to work pretty good.
Doofy - never had to experience a Chinook/Williwa while living in Glennallen - I'll never forget the cold. Guess you are lucky that you don't have to travel the Richardson thru Thompson Pass down to Valdez. We sure had the Chinooks while we lived in Anchorage.

I've used almost everything - silicon spray, Fluid Film, WD-40. They all work. Hard to say which is best because the snow conditions are always different. The one thing that completely prevents plugging - impeller kits (rubber flaps to close the gap between the blades and housing). I added those to both my walk behind blower and my 3 point blower and they have never plugged since.
Do they sell those or do you fab them?
I use fluid film and it works well
