I'm about to do my 50 hour maintenance on my 2620. Like many things in the manual, instead of giving me answers, I end up with more questions ! !

The manual doesn't call for the transmission oil to be changed until 400 hours (I was expecting 50), but the filter to be changed at 50. In the section on changing the filter, it says to drain the oil before removing the filter. Will oil start pouring out of the transmission when the filter is removed if it's not drained first??

Also.....I have 2 filters (one on each side of the transmission case). Looking at the manual, it appears that the filter on the right side is the transmission filter, and the one on the left is the hydraulic filter. Since both the HST and hydraulics use a common oil from a common "sump", isn't this a moot point??

The manual doesn't list the part number for the filters. Are the 2 HST filters the same?? Are they the same as the engine oil filter?? If not, do you know what they are??

Looking at the maintenance schedule in the manual, I was thinking of waiting until about 200 hours to change the HST oil (400 hours just seems too long), but I'd change the filters now (at 50 hours). But, if I have to drain the oil out anyway before removing the filters, I might as well put in fresh oil.....I wouldn't feel comfortable refilling with the used oil.

Thanks for any help.

Thanks for the link ! !

I've seen the strainer mentioned before. My manual doesn't mention it anywhere. Maybe my tractor doesn't have one?? I'll look for it when I'm under there.

RR,

There are no suction screens on either tube on the new B20 tractors. There are two separate spin on filters - one for the hydro transmission and one for the gear pumps for steering and hitch.

Change the fluid and the filters at 50 hours and you will get all the small bits of metal generated as the gears wear into each other. Don't think you will never find any metal in the filter in the future - only big chunks are cause for concern.

Good luck with your new rig!

I just bought filters.

The part numbers were:

Cartridge, Oil Filter: HHK70-14070
Filter, Oil Hydro: HH670-37710
ASSY Cartridge, Oil Fi: HH150-32094

I bought Kuybota Oil also. Will do that for a while but will switch to Rotella later.

Good Luck.

Clipper and Daddy - - thanks for the information.....that helps alot ! !

If you go to Kubota.com, Support, then Parts, you can choose your tractor and engine and it will list the parts needed (like filters, belts, lights, and lubes). The problem is, they don't list the 2620. Strangely, the 2320 is listed, although the engine listed for it is the engine in the 2620 (D1105-E3-D22)! ! Going by those specs, it does list filters with part numbers somewhat close to what Hoosier Daddy got; engine filter HH150-32094, Hyd suction filter 67955-37710, HST filter HHK070-14070. As far as I know, the "suction filter" is the screen, and as Yankee Clipper AND my dealer said, there are no screens on the new B's ! ! Bottom line: more confusion ! !

I really feel that if a manufactuer can't list correct information on their own website, then they would be better off not listing anything ! !

Looking up filters from Wix, Fram or Amsoil doesn't clear things up any better. First, the new B's aren't listed in their cross-reference tables....and second, the OEM Kubota filter numbers aren't recognized.

Now, you may be wondering why I don't just go to my dealer and get the necessary filters. They're not sure what the correct one's are, either ! ! They said they will check it out, then mail me a list of the correct part numbers.

So again, Clipper and Daddy......you can see just how helpful your information was. It clears up some of the mis-information I have been bombarded with. Thanks a million ! !
