Definitely use it. I buy avgas (100 octane, leaded, no ethanol, $5.50/gal) for ALL my non-automotive gas engines, 2 and 4 cycle, and it works great. Engines that were previously hard to start with regular gas (with ethanol) now usually come to life with just one pull. NO more worries about ethanol dissolving fuel lines/gaskets, etc. And the lead is a good upper cylinder and valve lubricant. Stabilize with Startron and it's good on the shelf for years.

Full disclosure, during mowing season I don't use it in my zero turn due to cost, but at the end of the season I'll run out all of the ethanol gas and fill the mower up with avgas and run it through the system.

I use 100LL (low Lead) AvGas in my 1951 Ford 8N, and my 1970 Ford 3400TLB, as well as in all my small engines.

This summer I took a string trimmer for warranty work to one of the largest small engine repair and power equipment dealers in the DFW metro area(Lakeview Power Equipment). They have signs in the shop saying"Fuel related problems are not warrantied". Husqvarna is doubling the warranty on some of their power equipment if you buy 3 quarts of pre-mix at time of purchase. Considering those facts,do you think there's a problem with pump gas now days?

Absolutely. With my wife's Camry, using 91 octane that I believe is crapanol free, I get 4 more miles to the gallon. Don't think the octane rating helps much, but certainly crapanol free does. Use it in all my non diesel engines.

I don't see how you could hurt anything w/o a catalytic converter. Some carbs might appreciate a little tune but 2 cycles probably not. But I wouldn't run out and buy it if you have access to ethanol free for less cost. I think drying out your carb if it's gonna sit should be your main concern.

Buddy flies airplanes so he brought me five gallons of 100 octane low lead gas with no ethanol. Guy at work says that it's to hot to run in my chain saw. Anyone know anything about this? I figured it would run just fine, but now I don't know and don't want to hurt my saw. Could mix with the recreational no ethanol gas that I'm running now I suppose. I mixed in some Sta-Bil so I'm hoping it will keep for the wood cutting coming up this winter.

I worked at airports for about 6 years back in the late 70's and early 80's. Every day we had to sump the fuel trucks... that is, we had to put a clean bucket under the drain pipe and drain a gallon out of the bottom of the truck and check it for water, then dump it in a waste tank. We weren't allowed to put it back into the truck. We had two 100LL trucks, so 2 gallons of 100LL got dumped every day. So we asked the boss if we could have it, since he'd have to pay to have it hauled off a couple times a year. I'd run it in my very modified '77 Yamaha RD400 (two-stroke twin). I was running pump gas with octane booster due to pre-detonation issues, and the 100LL resolved that, and was free. My co-worker had a 67 corvette with a 327 and high compression ratio. It ran well in there, too.

As for having to add Stabil to 100LL.... its a waste of money. Airplanes sat for months and months in T-Hangars, and tied down outside between runs. They add NO fuel stabilizer EVER and the planes start up and run just fine each and every time.

Also, I'm in the group that has run 87 octane 10% ethanol in everything I own for over 30 years. I tend to keep vehicles for at least 10 years. And lawn equipment and power tools... well, I've kept them all. I've had exactly ONE fuel line get rubbery in a chainsaw and had to replace it. That's the only fuel related problem I've ever had. I don't drain anything over the winter. And I don't use Stabil, except in my generator, which sits for years at a time. I run it about 2 times per year for half and hour with a load on it. Then top it off with Stabilized fuel. And that's about it.

The lead might help really antique 4-cycle engines that predate hard seat valves.

Avgas has fuel stabilizers already added.

I just buy 5 gallons of unleaded premium (91 octane) each year and that's plenty for 2-cycle gas. I have one arborist saw that is at least 35 years old, and a Montgomery Ward trolling motor that is about 50 years old. It uses a 16:1 mix, if you remember those. It's air cooled, so I use the same synthetic 2-cycle oil I use in my chainsaws.

$32 per gallon is believable but my first two searches came up with $32 & $38 per quart on ebay. Maybe it is a typo?
$32 per gallon... I want to sell premix gas to you my friend!
