LD1 explained it all plainly in post 14 IIRC.
Octane is a measure of detonation supression. The most energy is contained in fuel with the LOWEST octane. Cetane is the compression ignition analog.
All this banter about AvGas being risky or bad is just foolish. In fact, you used to be able to MIX high test and regular to achieve "the best" performance fuel due to the wonders of chemistry.
Not likely that running five gallons of fuel is gonna result in excessive lead fouling when using LL.
And if $32 per gallon is an idea of "worth it", All I can say is I hope the good time continue.
