To better understand where the plastic bag is at, can you give some more details? Was it a light-weight grocery bag? Where was it sucked in? Can you see any of it? Was the engine up to running temp when it happened? Will the engine turn over or is it locked up? Any other details?

If it's not in the manifold, yes, you have to pull the head. But what we all want to know is how is this possible? Were you operating without an air cleaner?

The only way this happens is if you have no air filter installed. The plastic bag is then not your only issue?
What size plastic bag?
What a fascinating subject. Would a small plastic bag create a problem if it gets sucked through? Wouldn't it be shredded up, burned and expelled?

+1. I'd bet that if it's past the intake, it's already through the motor and burning up inside the muffler. Now, how did this happen???
I found a food store plastic bag jammed into my daughter's furnace blower housing, just a few weeks ago. I'm thinking it got in through an open kitchen cold air return, then dislodged from the filter as I pulled it out to replace the filter. I'm glad I pulled the furnace cover off, so I could glance in there...
