My thought as well. Last posts I saw.. i also noticed the welfare rant... but then I was ranting about real vs imaginare exemptions too.

In my opinion.. the thread wasn't too bad.. course.. since this isn't a democracy.. who cares what I think!! /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

It was nice to see a good strong discussion thread.. and still have no arguments.... I think that thread should be saved for the 'example' book!.. just to prove that it is possible.

Anywho.. back to work.. thanks for the reply guys.. I was just trying to see if it was me.. or I missed something offensive.

If their guarding it tight enough to get that thread closed down then we need a free for all forum added. Maybe then we could talk about something as related to tractors and farms as a lawmaker trying to increase taxes on farmers instead of tightening the belt on welfare and slackard schools.

Amazingly.. I think all our posts were civil... like I say.. that's probably a first in TBN history though.

Evidentally.. the admins thought that we stepped on somebodies toes.. or it wouldn't have been pulled.

I am surprised though.. it did look fairly mild... That's why I asked for the question / explanations / commentary.

well put getut, thats the one thing that realy bugs me about this forum, its almost too politicaly correct, kinda like a fancy coffee shop with college proffessors all around waiting to correct ya the proper way to say things, and what ya cant say, as opposed to many of the other welding, machine shop, and farm forums i regularly visit where the atmosphere is more like that of a taven, say what ya like just dont get dissorderly or else ya will simply make a fool of your self, very much like many folks do in a tavern!! <font color="black"> </font> <font color="black"> </font> <font color="black"> </font>

I am making the post here also because when I saw all the responses to the closing of my thread I thought Wow, I think this is a good thing! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

MY POST was a close call, at first I was shocked, this was my first thread that was closed. But .............

I agree with the moderator - MikePA. The rules are clear no politics.

When I started the thread I had the feeling that the thread might be too political. But... I did it anyways because it really affects the way I have and will manage my land and use my tractor . The intent of this post was not to bash politicians only to make the members aware all over America what is happening in Texas. Century old exemptions that you might be banking on during your retirement years may suddenly come to an end and unexpected expenses might be inevitable in order to keep your land if you have any exemptions.

So be prepared, anything can happen.

Oh.. by the way Daedong PM me and the Aussie word I was trying to get a definition of was suppose to be whinge which in Aussie is pronounced whingah or bloody whingah, which in Texan language means whine or whiner. That is definitely what I will be if they take away the agg. exemption.

Don, the ag exemption ain't the only thing going away. Our elected officials are looking for money anywhere they can find it. A story in the Dallas Morning News today says the Dallas Independent School District is faced with laying off 400 people or cut back on the homestead exemption for homeowners. Would you like to guess which will happen? I live in Coppell and the Coppell School District already took away our homestead exemption last year. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif You know when one high school has 15 coaches and a football stadium that some of the pro teams would be proud of, that takes a lot of money. /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

A bit off topic, but interesting issue with schools. My sister is a teacher and her school district along with many others are seeing a declining student population. They actually want to close one of their schools to save a bunch of money, but the parents won't let them. The school district figures they can save enough money to offset the additional busing costs, provide a better learning environment, make improvements to the remaining facilities AND stay within their budget. Sounds like a good idea to me, but they're having to fight every step of the way to make it happen. It wouldn't surprise me if the parents win and they have to go for another bond to fix the money pit the parents want kept open.
