I'm looking at purchasing a G l3540 or 3940 and this is the first tractor i have seen with the hydraulics for the 3PH on the exterior. Has there been any maintenance issues or problems with the cylinders exposed like this?

I have tractors with both. Exterior cylinders have a couple more zerks. Interior cylinders are more complicated to rebuild, but you should only have to do this every 50 years or so. Philip.

Darrell,

I have a new Grand "L" 3940HST - took delivery in January 2010. I have logged over 165 hours with absolutely zero issues. The 50hr initial service was very easy to do myself and I have gotten some really good use out of the 3PH using a 7' boxblade as well as a 6' finish mower and 6' gill rake. Again - zero issues.

I don't believe you will have any issues. These are well built tractors.

Had/have both and prefer the outside cylinders.
