John,

Thanks for the reminder. I was stopped at a weigh station pulling a 24 foot dove tail loaded with a case 450C dozer. I soon learned the DOT laws in Texas after $1500 in fines and being shut down. As long as my truck is registered for the weight it has on it and the trailer is inspected threw the state and I stay under 26001lbs we are okay. I am sure if everything takes off we will aquire a DOT number and be forced to get a cdl if our weights go up. I will try to avoid breaking the law. Thanks alot for the information.

C B,

We have to do something for our side jobs. Just hopefully we can meake some good money at it. It will be fun in the process no matter what happens. I figure everything cost money so why not buy a nice piece of equipment. its been fun so far.

We are currently looking at a Case 450 CT with the BIC super Hy-flow hydraulic system. It comes with 82 engine horsepower 34 gpm at 4500psi and 89 hydraulic horsepower. It has a auxillary hydraulic cooler also. The head is a 165-5 magnum with a 60 inch cut and also a auxillary cooler. I think we are on the right track just trying to confirm. Thanks again for all of your help. Yall have been a great deal of help so far.

I would definitely demo the Case machine and ask the salesman how you can get more hydraulic hp out of a machine than it can deliver in engine hp. It's just not physically possible. He may be quoting you theoretical hydraulic hp but definitely not actual. Remember, you will need engine hp to run the pumps for the tracks, lift and lower the loader arms, and the A/C compressor will also chase about 5 engine hp. i'm not trying to discourage you but make sure you demo the Case and at least one other skid steer sized track machine such as the CAT 297 or the ASV RC100 so that you have a reference. Good luck.

I would not consider the Case b/c it's only 82 hp. I would get no less than a ASV RC100. Possibly a used FTX140.

GOOD LUCK!
