My wife and are buying a 12 acre lot, I'll be doing the heavy clearing with a rental and was looking at a used b1750 to do the finish work and maintian about 2-3 acres for the lawn. My question is would this tractor handle pushing around some rocks, pulling some stumps, push some smaller tress. I would end up with about 500 ft on the driveway would she handle a snowblower for the winter in the northeast? Is this enough tractor? Should we look at bigger models / smaller models?

The tractor has a loader and sub-frame on it, could I still install a belly mower? It looks like clearence would be tight. What are the specs for the loader? What size box scraper could I put out back? What are the specs on the tractor itself? What positive and negitives has this forum experienced with this model? What is a resonable price based on 242 hours in good condition?

Crafty -- This past winter I traded up from my old B1750 to a new L3010. Though we have 150 acres in Vermont, the 1750 was used mainly to mow the 7 acre meadow, to plow snow in the winter, and to crown the road a few times each year so the rain didn't wash it away. It handled all those tasks, but slowly. The FEL had very little lift capacity, and the tractor itself was so light rocks and stumps lifted it, instead of the other way around.

It was a phenomenal mower (I had the belly mower and FEL, and aside from some ground clearance issues had no troubles running both), and a mediocre everything else. Yes, it will handle a snowblower. Not sure about the specs or the box scraper. I bought mine with 117 hours, ags and turfs, FEL, belly mower and rear blade for $11,750. Kept it three years and sold it with 525 hours and all that stuff plus snow chains for $12,500.

Two options I'd consider: (1) Get a larger tractor, or (2) Rent a larger tractor for the grunt work and keep the 1750 for mowing and light stuff.

crafty,

Here is some information from Kubota sales brochure:

B1750: The B1750 is in the middle of the B1550/B1750/B2150 Kubota series tractors. The gross hp is 17/20/24 respectively. All three were available in gear drive/HSD and 2wd/4wd. All three had the bi-speed turning option (available with 4wd only). For the B1750, the PTO has 16.5 hp on the gear drive and 15.5 hp on the HSD. All horsepower data is with the engine running at 2600 rpm. There is no mention of power steering, but my B2150 has power steering. I was thinking that all 3 of the tractors in the sales brochure had power steering as a standard feature but I can't find that information.

Front End Loader (FEL): According to the Kubota FEL sales brochure that I have, the B1750 uses the B1640A Quick Attach Loader. This FEL is also used on the B5200/B6200/B7200/and B1550 tractors. The "breakout force" is listed at 970 lbs and the "lift capacity at full height" is 600 lbs. It has the "float" feature as do most Kubota FELs. The one you are looking at could have a 3rd party FEL, in which case I don't have any specs. The mid-mower is compatable with Kubota's FEL; however it gets in the way for FEL work and is a pain to remove and install (my opinion). For that particular setup I would recommend a 3-pint hitch finish mower. It is cheaper and easier to remove and install.

I think that the B1750 will handle most of the "continuous duty" jobs that you have on hand. I especially don't see a problem when you have already committed to renting a larger unit to handle the "limited/one-tme jobs". It should be able to lift and/or push around rocks up to 600 pounds (hopefully you won't have a mid-mower getting in the way). Ag tires would be much more useful for this job than would turf tires (you didn't mention which tires came on the tractor). I would consider paying up to $9500 if it is in really good condition. Note that I paid less than $9500 for my 800 hour B2150 HSD/4wd/Ag tires/ FEL about 2 years ago. But I feel that I got a really good deal that may be hard to repeat. Even it doesn't do everything, but it accomplishes the majority (90%?) of my tasks and saved me the several thousands of dollars that I would have spent if I had of tried to buy a tractor that would have accomplished 95% of my tasks.

That was a lot of information but I hope it helps.
