i think the L2230 will fit the LA402 (hope I've got the numbers correct). The pin diameter is the same as is teh outer dimension of the arms. The inner dimensions of the arm are about 3/4" wider each side. With that, welding in a small bung to properly take up the space is all that's required. The only downside is the added weight of the L series QA bucket they wanted to sell me.

The only sticking point is wether or not teh L series is a universal QA. Is this something that can be determined by measuring the quick attach plate?

Thanks, I'm going to look into the Horst setup now. By using the L2230 setup, I could save a couple hundred over the ATI-although I don't want to forget the weight issue. Thanks for the comments!

Without measurements it is hard to be certain but those photos sure look like a universal skid steer quick attach style. Have you tried to hook up implements other than the Kubota buckets? Unless the Kubota QA was more expensive there would be no reason to look at ATI or Horst if this is a universal QA.

I've got a set of Bradco pallet forks that I use with it. This QA is for the L513 loader for the L3130 series tractors. The L2800/3400 buckets just have to have the Bradco or whatever brand QA plate welded to it an wholla a QA that Kubota doesn't offer as an option...not every dealer is up on what will fit what, I got lucky with one that just happens to with this.

Just wanted to see if anyone had made progress on using the L2230A on their B7800/LA402 loader. I am in the process of pricing the ATI right now, and if the L2230 is a viable option I would love to hear about it. Any more information on the horst unit also mentioned in this thread, how much was it? pro's cons etc..???

thank you.

I know this is a very old thread, however I would really like to know how this project turned out. I am the exact same situation. I have a B2910 with LA 402 loader and would like to put a quick attach on the loader and modify my existing bucket to match. I would like to option to be able to use skid steer equipment when possible. I have priced ATI and Horst and would rather stay below their price points. Through my dealer I found a quick coupler for the LA 513 Loader for $289 and I am hoping that this will work. Horst's coupler is $658 and I think ATI's was in the $700's. I am also looking at getting a set of pallet forks to help moving material around....

The problem with the loader is the lift capacity, which will impact what type of skid steer QA products you can use because they weigh so much. Kubota does have a pin type QA that hooks into the top pins of the bucket and then you slide 2 removable pins into the bottom holes. It's much lighter than the skid steer QA, and is reasonably priced. Yes, you can get skid steer QA pallet forks cheaper than the Kubota forks if you search around, but the whole skid steer QA setup (QA plus weld-on plates add too much weight to the LA 402 & 403 setup), and you'll still be limited to what skid steer attachments you can use.

What I've found is that more and more attachment manufacturers are making both skid steer type QA setups, as well as the standard pin-on setups for the various tractor loaders. Many of them will even build a pin-on setup for you using your measurements (if they haven't yet done one for your loader), because it can then become one of their standard offerings. For the LA 402 & LA 403 loaders, I think the pin-type QA is the better way to go, since you can get so many attachments with the 4 pin holes to fit the loader, but still be able to take advantage of a QA setup.

Check out RonJHall's photos to see some of the many attachments he uses on his Kubota pin type QA.

If you still would prefer the skid steer type QA, then you'll have to pay for the ATI, because it appears to be the lightest weight version available, at only 40 lbs heavier than the pin-type QA, and won't eat up so much FEL capacity.
