You mentioned buying a weld on adapter plate when you got the QA, but since bought a new bucket. Have you tried putting that adapter plate on the QA to see if it locks down? If it does then problem is in the new bucket and little grinding should fix it, if neither will lock down then it is in the QA and need to look at that, make sure there is a weld bead sticking out in the front that may be holding that corner of the bucket from coming in far enough.

Update
I just took the tractor over to a tree stump that I haven't cut down and pressed the bucket up to it and the pin fully latched down. It would stink to do that every time I want to put the bucket back on...better not cut the stump down any time soon.

Is the little crossover tube on the SSQA adapter twisted? So that the SSQA plates are not in the same plane? If so you will have to "untwist" it by some means. It sounds to me by pressing on that stump you "untwisted" it a bit or got it out of a bind..Look into pushing on that stump some more. to get things lined back up again. Or lifting with the bucket on an unmovable rock shelf or something to spring the pads back into alignment. In severe cases, I have seen here where people have cut the crossover tube in two, and lined up the pads on a known good bucket or SSQA plate, and then re-welded the tube back together.

Keep that stump!!!

Things might loosen up a little with time or you could speed the process with a cutting torch or file. Sometimes even an 1/8" can make a world of difference.

I'm gonna have to keep that stump! It's such a slight amount (less1/8) for that pin to latch fully. Would filing alittle on the square opening where the pin goes hurt?

Wouldn't hurt a bit...a little cutting torch action would go quicker but a file will remove metal also.

Here are the specs for the qa plate. I think I found these on the forum.

I had this issue on my 724 loader. After some careful study, it turns out the loader wasn't made square. I had it bent a wee bit by the dealer and now it's perfect.

No not a problem, file away, or use your dremel tool if you have one. or an 4 1/2 inch angle grinder, just take a little and try it.
