3-Point Hitch Quick Hitch Bushing

I'm sure this topic has been discussed multiple times but I'm still confused on the topic so please forgive my ignorance to the topic. I have a JD2320 that I got the quick hitch on. Right now the only thing I've picked up with it has been the ballast box. I'm borrow a tiller to expand my garden this year and want to pick up bushing for it. It's just a simple Category 1 device. I believe it is this one (CountyLine Tiller, 48 in. - 2173045 | Tractor Supply Company)

Am I correct in all my research on here (you have some great minds here!) that this would be the bushing set I would need to be able to grab it with my quick hitch (Quick Hitch Bushing Kit, Cat 1 - 0265325 | Tractor Supply Company)

Is there anything else I need? Can I simply just put a "pin" in the top where the toplink would go for the "hook" to grab onto?

I'm sure there are lots of reasons why the linked kit is the "right way" to do it. The shoulders locate the quick hitch positively. However, I'm also sure that a lot of us just buy some Cat I to Cat II bushings for a couple of bucks, put the spring pins back in and go with it. Seems to work. I would not use a quick hitch without some kind of bushings, because there is just too much slop with the Cat I pins.

The quick hitch adaptors should work, that said if you are borrowing the implement then I think the plain bushings you can slip over and pin in would be easier to use.

The top hook on the quick hitch should catch on the lower bushing on the tiller. It looks to be set at 15" height and the holes above are for the standard 18" cat 1 spacing.

Check to see if there is enough clearance for the lower QH to get between the frame and the pins. Our local TSC had the 48" tiller for $1399 yesterday.

Yes, those bushings are pinned on with roll pins and are not easily removed. If you are going to just borrow the tiller then don't get those-just get some slip on bushings-not 100% correct but functional. You will need one for the top pin also or you will have to much play.

To just borrow the tiller-I'd be inclined to just remove the iMatch-but whatever you do VERIFY the driveshaft length to ensure it's not to long or to short.

I use my landscape rake on my 4520 with iMatch and on my B21 with normal cat 1 3PT hitch. I got these two bushings from my Deere dealer. The win is you can quickly adapt without banging a pin in and out.

The landscape rake is iMatch compatible, so it has a correct size pin at 15", and also has a hole above that for a standard top link. As such, it works great on both tractors. I do have to be careful with the 4520 as it could bend it into a pretzel without even breathing hard.

I think the best thing if your just borrowing it, is to remove the QH and hook normal. I did order several sets of the adapters that kennyd posted and really like them, I have a extra set in the tractor tool box to slip on an implement if I have to borrow one that is not used with a QH.

Basically you need to make your CAT1 implement lift arms and top link grow to CAT3 size. PTO power implements like a tiller require a solid mount so you should get both top link bushings and lift arm bushings to go from CAT1-3. JD part# LP25004, ~$32.00. See pic. You can also build your own kit cheaper as kennyd pointed out here:

You can go to TSC and buy bushing. I made my own but they sell bushings that will work. Use pins or clips to hold them on for temp use.

Stumbled onto this old thread and am wanting to know a similar thing. I do want to put these Quick Hitch Bushings on for my Pat's Easy Hitch system (which is a Cat II system) but my question is if I have cat 2 pins on my implement and put the cat II bushings on like these NorTrac Quick-Hitch Bushing Set — Fits Category 2 Hitches | 3-Point Hitch Adapters| Northern Tool + Equipment
will that make it to fat for my Pat's Easy Hitch??
