Like this, very rough drawing:

Float your top section off of your Bucket Hook and you should be good-to-go.
Good idea with the bottom part, but I dont understand the top.Why couldnt it be solid at the top?Are you saying using float I will lighten up my front end ,you mean ill lose my weight, and my traction? At least thats what i think your saying ,and it makes sense! So Iwas going to use a chain up there how, much slack should there be in it? There needs to be some kind of give ,if i hit a rock ,so my loader arms and cylinders dont take all that shock load. Will this do that? When Ipicture a chain up there and the blade down and moving forward,i see the chain tighting up.My question is at that point if i hit a rock, will the loader receive a jolt ,where that the chain is already taught?
I called my dealer to order a 3 point blade, today. When I told him my plan he was skeptical about it working. He explained the blade would hang way down below the bucket, and he thought the tractor might nose dive?He suggested just forgetting the 3 point and take off my bucket.I dont want to do that.If any one has any doubts that i can use a 3 point plow in my bucket, for any reason PLEASE SPEAK UP before i buy one.
Another thing to consider, about 70 lbs of steel,300lb implement ,its gonna weigh alot.Wheather thats a good thing or not, between the rear blower and a heavy bucket,i ought to get good traction.

Alan,

As far as the BX float goes, yes, I am saying you will lose traction, but moreover, steering would get very light, and moving snow, you may pretty much lose steerability altogehter. I am basing my statement on using my BX's FEL in dirt and scraping using the float setting, it really does lighten the front end, just wanted to be clear I'm basing it on expereince, not just a thought.

For your top link, yes, I was thinkin a piece of chain also, but i see your point about the chain already being taught. That is a possibility, but, also, if you have the weight of blade down on the pavement, it may not be all that taught? At any rate, what about using a heavy dut spring, like a trip spring, as the connection at the top link? if you hit a big rock or curb, the spring would stretch cushioning the blow.
What is the approx. distance from your top hook, to where the top-link of the grader blade will be?? is there room for a Spring? You will have to examine that part of it.

As far as this idea working, I can't think of anything that screams NO GO?

Weight of the Rear Grader Blade would be a consideration. A medium Duty 5 footer should be within the range of your FEL? Also add in the weight of the Quick Hitch into your figures.
You will need to load up on some Rear Ballast, mostly for transport mode. Once it's lowered to the pavement 90% of it's weight will be on the ground.

JOHN,
The primary use for the blade up front would be moving light amounts of snow on frozen ground. In heavy or wet snow,id simply blow it.Another reason id like to have a blade on board is on the long tractor path down back ,there are some pretty good ditches.Im afraid if i try to get too close i could slide in one.Could mean roll over. With a wide blade i might clean to the edge of the ditch without having the tires near it. Think it might work for this purpose?ALAN

You might consider a 3 point blade with an offset feature. You could slide it right or left to keep you farther away from the ditch.

I'm always concerned when reading about plowing with the front end loader arms about tweaking/bending the fel arms from striking an unknown frozen object hiding quietly under the nice white snow.

Hi guys,
I played in the garage today and fabbed it up ,i think its a great success.I took a long time to decide on if i wanted it spting loaded ,i finally chose a solid mount.Ipin in the top[with chain] 2 bolts on side to install[might change that to pins also]about 2 minutes.
Iwelded the original loader attach pins to the angle frame i built to have something over the cutting edge to keep strain off the frame and side bolts.Iwelded the MARKHAM plates to the side of my bucket so the holes dont get messed up.Main frame in the rear is double angle iron for extra support.
Works slick.Isnt too heavy ,acts real solid.can actually see well where that its out in front of bucket.Drove right up to rake picked it up jumped off and flipped latches-SWEET:)
Sorry guys i didnt have a plow to try,so i hooked up my rake which is about the same if not heavier than a plow.Ishowed my neighbor [who has several tractors]and he thinks it will plow great.Ill wait to hear your final suggestions before i paint
Now I gotta go buy a 3 point blade.Tryed FRIDAY ,two of the largest dealers around are sold out!!
ALAN
PS ALREADY DREAMING OF THE DIFFERENT IMPEMENTS THAT WILL WORK WELL UP FRONT:D

Looks nice. For things I dream of using, I would need a clear 3pt - the bucket edge would be in the way of too many implements. Looks like it works your needs well.

I would be careful with that top chain just hooked in. There will be a lot of torq & bendy forces at times when pushing/pulling a blade, & even pinning the chain in 'tight' things could flex enough to let the chain slip out of the hook & then your implement could teeter down into the front of your tractor - or fold under while you are driving forward.

Maybe not likely, but real bad ramifications if it would, however unlikely, happen.

Looks good Alan!
If I come across a blade during my travels, I'll let you know. I'm headed up to potatoe country this week.
What size are you looking for? 5' ?

PAUL,
Iwas thinking the same thought, however didnt have the correct one yesterday.Thinking on looping it around and putting a bolt through it,hooking it to itself
