Quick hitch options

/ Quick hitch options #21
I bought the Carter EZ hitch. they work pretty well, I did not like the roll pin and the length of the pipe they used for the 7/8 ball pins. the roll pin end would hang up when I disconnected on my rotary cutter vertical arms sometimes. so I made my own pins out of 1/2 pipe (which is 7/8 O.D) and welded a washer on the end of the pipe so it would not hang up when you pull foward after disconnecting. This solved the problem. I did not buy or make yet a spreader bar, I decided to use a bungee cord to pull the arms together and adjust the turnbuckles to set the spacing. Sometimes have to get off to adjust the spacing a little. But overall these save hours of grunting cussing, and kicking to get your implement on. I have actually hurt my foot kicking those **** lift arms to get the balls over the pins.. now you just back up and line up (hydro makes this great!) and most times you can just raise lift and your on. sometimes you might need to get off and adjust one turnbuckle in or out a little. not all of my implements are the same. If one hitch hits the pin first, no problem as if you continue to back up a little it will skew the implement till the other one is lined up. So all in all I am pleased with them, they have saved me much frustration and possible injury.
