Quick Newbe Question

One quick question for you guys. I know I brought this up briefly in my first post, but wanted to ask again. My Robin 18 runs strong, but I notice at certain rpm ranges no matter how smooth I throttle up or down it will vibrate excessively in between throttle postions.

Not in all ranges just in between points going low to high. It will also smooth out at certain positions of throttle. Same under load. Does anyone else notice this with there engines, before I look into it further. Is it something I should be concerned about? Is this just during break in. /forums/images/graemlins/ooo.gif Thanks just want to compare notes here.

Had the same issue with my PT-180's engine but went away after awhile. Now have about 100 hours on the engine with no problems related with that issue

I would give everything in the engine compartment a thorough check for loose bolts. While this may be no more than a new unit settling in, it could also be an early sign that something is loose or making contact with something it shouldn't. Sometimes a twisted hydraulic hose can be putting something in a bind.

Just a thought.

Sounds like good advice, I have already checked and tightend a few bolts was planning on going over it again will include hoses this time. Gas line / tank looks clear may change out the gas filter anyway. Thanks for your help. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

That is good advice. I like to check everything in my engine compartment for tightness about every 2-3 months or 25 hours of operation just to be sure. It helps to do it after a cleaning of the engine compartment. Amazing what a little dirt or grass can hide.

Barry, already notified PT that the engine compartment was too big> Ha Ha. Heck had to remove the block, so i could change the oil filter. Luv the PT but some maintenace issues need to corrected. Hey thats the issue with all products

Very true about most products.

I must admit one of the big draws for me was that it was made by good ol American craftsman, That said I must admit my seat was welded on a little crooked, and the steering has way to much play. Sure it is just where the pin goes through the shaft have not taken if off yet.

On the other hand the little machine is built like a tank, and I couldn't even get anything close in price with the capabilities of the PT. So all in all, I am thrilled with my purchase. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Luv my PT. Even its a 180. Will be looking to upgrade in 2 years. I use my PT for trenching silt fence. Better than a walk behind trencher.

Recently I had a Kobuta owner say "thats the machine I needed" afforadable & well built.

I have no negative felings with my 180. This machine will be my first work-horse and will be part of my business for some time to come.
