Edit: I accidentally hit return before I finished typing the Title ("Quick Attach Bolt On"). Apparently, there's no way to edit titles.

I have an extra Quick Attach plate and I want to bolt on a trailer receiver hitch. However, I’m concerned that the bolt heads will stick out too far in the back to allow the plate to fit properly on my tractor. Has anyone tried to bolt something to a quick attached plate? If so, what type of bolts did you use (so that the heads where flush enough to allow the plate to work proberly). Any pictures? Thanks.

if i remember correctly, i had to counter sink the holes on the quick attach plate and used counter sink bolts or screws that had a slot in the head to tighten.

marrt, Look at my thread (Low Use Attachments) for info on bolting attachments to a quick attach plate

Some quick attach plates have predrilled counter sunk holes. Others do not. I made some of my own on one that did not have them. I used 1/4 20 bolts. I later felt this was too weak and about that time I got a welder and started welding items on.

It'll cost probably less to take it to a welding place and have it welded on the plate than you'll have in bolts (grade 8) and time. Weld it unless you want to undo it to use the plate for something else. You can always use a grinder to remove it from the plate. JMO

Bring it by my house and I will weld it for you. I live a little west of Richmond Va. I made my own.

Thanks for the offer Bob but I live a bit too far from Richmond.

FYI, I want to bolt this on, rather than weld, because I intend to ultimately use the attach plate for another project.

I think I will try some bolts like the attached image. Should work I think with a little counter sink.
