quickspade on a bx

Anybody using one of the quick spades on the bucket of a bx? I can think of a million uses, but I'm wondering if my little 1850 will have enough power, traction, etc. to make it worthwhile.

I watched the video and it's very interesting. I also can see where I could have used this alot over the past few years. It appears strong enough to bog down heavy equipment without bending. I added one to cart to see how much it was for shipping which isn't mentioned and it didn't show it up to point of adding address and info so I'm not sure if the $145 is the total at your door price. Does anyone have one of these?

I sought more info about this item and kept coming back to this Weeders where one way in to site shows it's $259 and through this linked site it's $145. Big difference. Couldn't find anywhere if the chain is included and I'd have a big concern if it just attaches to the middle front edge of the bucket and doesn't have a flat plate running under the bucket for strength and distribution of pressure on more than just the edge of the bucket.

There are 2 versions of the quick spade, the one for forks which is cheaper and the "combo" unit which is for forks or will slide onto a bucket. I have the combo unit. It is VERY heavy built. I think it weighs about 80 lb. You won't need to worry about breaking it. I have used it to dig some rocks out, help with a trench, and dig out some small saplings. The only problem is securing it to the relaively small bucket on a B or BX. It has a hook on the top and bottom. It is designed to hook a chain (I use 1/4") to the bottom hook and around the bucket to the hook on the top and use a ratcheting tightner to tighten the chain. Even with the smallest tightener, I can just get it to work. Obviously you could come up with another way of tightening it. But otherwise it is a good product. I think I got mine though Northern Tool, but I bought somethrough that weeders website, so it may have been the quick spade. I don't have a BX so can't comment on the power of the bucket.

Interesting video. I think the BX will be able to dig in nearly the same as the larger tractor in video, but lifting it may be another matter. I doubt it the curl will be able to lift that much dirt since the spade already weights 80 lbs. In sand, soft dirt maybe. clay ? not too much with the BX I doubt. I would have to try one first to see.
