R/F WHEEL LOCK UP

That was my repair. Very easy to do. I almost missed the damage because it is hidden inside the large gear. Do not be afraid to open it up. Let us know what you find.

Sorry it took me sooo long to get back to everyone, had a hard time loging on. Ok what your telling me is what I was afraid of. /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif I will tear the front end down as soon as the weather alows me to, and will post my findings. Thanks for your input and direction on what's needed to correct this problem. Till later play safe..

Any roller bearings in there that might have let go causing binding / extra parts circulating?

Sounds to me that Rick and Greg are on the right path. Not only going out of sinc, but a broken tooth getting caught between the miter gears, stopping operation. Makes sense when you back up, you are dislodging it and it falls from between the miter gears, allowing operation again until next time it finds it way between them.

Assuming this to be the case, I would start with the inspection of the right wheel gear mechanisim, as a broken tooth in the front differential would likely cause both wheels to lock up instead of just the one.

put it in 4 wheel drive and raise the front end. Turn off the tractor. Rotate one front wheel and then the other, The opposite wheel should rotate the opposite direction. YOu are feeling for any roughness, catching, or locking up.
