can someone give me a number for a crossover cap so i can buy one at a local parts house?

I'm going to bet you will get quicker satisfaction by just taking in your cap and have them match it up. It's what they do.

My father was VP of Stant and had over 40 years with them but he retired 2 years ago.

I think the number Tommy gave is a good one. You want a low pressure cap. 7 psi is what I have on mine.

Yeah, the Stant 7 psi cap is a good choice. OE is even lower (3-4 psi), but they're junk. Closest aftermarket cap you'll get is the standard 7 psi agricultural/off-road cap. A 15 psi automotive cap will sooner or later lead to seepage

Well, in defense of Keno, y'all know that water (say coolant) boils at a much higher temperature when under pressure (it's called Gay-Lussac’s Law). I have had the 15# Stant cap on my dozer since day one, and run a 190° thermostat for thermal efficiency. I am also over 250 hrs. on the lube oil, and it is perfect.
