2013 Kioti DK55
I have a kioti DK55 ROPS. I've made a cover out of a gold cart top. I'm wanting to install a radio and speakers. Im thinking marine stuff should do fine. But do I need to have then in any sort of enclosure or can they be just mounted ?

I had a few boats with built in radios & they where always inside the cabin including the speakers , The only radio I had exposed to the elements was the emergency marine radio with the speaker built in & that was somewhat covered under the canvas top & I would always remove it when it was not in use & the radio I just bought for the tractor is made for a roof install with a built in speaker & is design for use with a tractor & I've seen some radios design for tractors where they could be mounted on the rear fender with built in speaker. I would IMHO make sure they are covered or it's made to be exposed to the elements.I found my radio at Northern Tools.

Just get something weather proof. The speakers should have their own enclosures, like outdoor speakers do, or they will sound like crap.

You will find that the radio is underwhelming against the tractor noise. I used a rugged radio meant for a skid steer-Jensen I believe and the speakers don't cut it. I used my 3M $50 radio headphones plugged into the auxiliary port on the radio until that stopped working, now I rely on only the radio/headphones . It's just too noisy for a radio.

I'm telling you guys that I went into my canopy/radio project with just as much enthusiasm as you all. Make sure you have a headphone jack, you'll blow out the speakers trying to hear anything from your radio with the tractor running.

I didn't check out Brandi's link, but searching "tractor radio" will bring this kit up by Jensen including the speakers.
A good friend has the factory cab on his M7040 kubota and he's not able to hear his radio either. Maybe it takes a Deere "R" model cab?

Hey blndian ! Thanks for putting that link up, I was close to ordering the same radio but i wanted to use the brace I had sitting around for 12 years & I'm going to order some side view mirrors to put on the ends, Let us know how the radio works for You (y).
Why put mirrors on a tractor with no cab?

Can do,
Is this radio at the front or back of your canopy? I sometimes stand up while mowing or hitching up the front attachments. Wouldn't want to hit my head on that thing.
hugs, Brandi
It's in the front & I'm 6'tall & I clear it easy getting off & on the tractor & standing on the ground the bottom of the side brace is 82" off the ground & sets dead center of the steering wheel & I can stand straight up with 2" to spare & that is 74" floor to ceiling & sitting in the seat it's a 33" reach to the radio & rocker switch & I'm going to mount side view mirrors on those side braces;). Also I drove trucks for 44 yrs. so I do know about head clearance & overhead radios or as they say now days ergonomics of a vehicle  & yes I would not want to hit my head on it either ( OUCH ) & I made sure of that thanks.

Beats turning your head all the time & you can keep your eyes forward while slightly watching the rear implement in your mirrors:cool:, & when you drove a truck for 44 yrs. it becomes natural.

Hey, I have a 'poor man's CUT' and it sports AM/FM stereo via my local scrap (recycle) yard ($35.00)
Nothing all that fancy, but it keeps me amused and informed while I tractor on.
It is not nuclear science to install one.
Just hook up the +12vdc and ground and off U go.
You need to be somewhat creative.

I prefer the KISS principal........"mounted" on the left side of the buggy top framework. Admittedly, there is a fair amount of flutter when playing a cassette tape. 😁

Rear implement. Got it. I have my backhoe on 99% of the time. Makes a great counterweight while moving logs.

My tractor that I'm putting the mirrors on is used mainly to grade our neighborhood private road & snow removal so there is some vehicle traffic around me when I'm working the road & I'll be able to fold the mirrors in when I don't need them & I use my other tractor in the woods to skid logs & that one doesn't have a rops bar on it ;). Did your radio come in & did You get installed:unsure:?
