Rain X

   / Rain X #11
My latest car already had Rain X on the windshield when I purchased it used in 2003. It worked so well that I use it on all my cars and have passed the word around to my family as well.
They all love it!

Bird,

I learned the Coke trick about 30 years ago while stranded down in Chicago. A bunch of us guys where headed for Kentucky when the other guys car broke down. Water pump went out and while we were sitting at the gas station a customer had come in and complained about his windshield wipers not doing their job. This old guy grabbed a can of Coke out of the pop machine and went over and poured it all over the windshield on both sides. Customer was happy when done. The gas station attended got a thank you and a smile.

Yep, I've done the Coke trick for quite a few years. Another thing that I've done. I got tired of paying $20 +/- for the Bosch/Anco wiper blades every 3 - 4 months and still not being able to see. So out of desperation and anger I found a cheap set $6 each at Wal-Mart and thought they couldn't be any worse. Put a set on the car. Absolutely love them. They are made out of silicone and it puts a "haze" on your windshield like Rain-X does everytime you turn your wipers on. Then you end up not really needing your wipers. I then immediately put a set on the truck because they work so well. That has been over 3 years ago. Still going strong. I believe they were called Triple-Edge or Triple guard something like that. One of the few times I've gone cheap in my life and been happy.

Wax your windshield.... /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif.

This may be off the subject but about two weeks ago I waxed my wife's new Buick for the first time...has anyone ever used Rain-X Ultra car wax? The local Big Lots was selling it for $1.99 a can (paste type) about a year ago and I bought every one they had in stock. Best car wax I have ever used, it would have been a good buy at five times the price.

And yes, I have used Rain X on our windshields for years, but NOT the car wax product.

Our CNC mill operators use Rain-X on the obeservation windows of their machines. The coolant runs right off the glass and they can see their work easier.

What even better is the rainX windshield washer fluid. They make a summer and winter mix. Its great after a while the water just slids off the windshield.

Bird,
I saw a list of uses for Coke once, everything from rust removal to winshield cleaning. And we drink the stuff!!!

Ernie,
I had the same problem on clean windshields. Have a couple of bottles in the garage, been there for several years now.....

I had that problem the first couple of times I used RainX, so I experimented a bit. I've found if I use those impregnated towelettes to apply it, then buff it out under running water with the same towelette it streaks much less. We're talking copious amounts of running water, not just a spritzing.

At any rate, I love the stuff!
