I have lots of broken tree limbs from hurricane damage, plus I just had a section of my property cleared out by a big trackhoe. Now, I have big pieces of tree trunks, stumps, 4 ft logs and lots of smaller stuff mixed in with dried up mud on a very rough, uneven piece of ground. The idea is to scrape out the wood stuff without dragging too much of the dirt (which I plan to smooth out).
I have access to a 3ph landscape rake. Will the tines on that rake handle the big stuff?
If not, does anybody make a 3ph rake with big metal tines maybe six inches apart that can drag heavy stuff?
Thanks in advance for sharing your knowledge and/or experience.

Looks like you have a box blade. I use the rippers on mine as a rake with the box rolled forward to minimize dirt collection. Large items like stumps get the chain. If you have lots of large material that you want to keep clean as you stack it into the burn pile then it may be time for a grapple.

I bought a 6-tine cultivator for our garden a few months ago for about $100.
I've been cutting down several cedar trees and cutting the limbs off, as well as general clearing of some areas.
The little cultivator attached to my B2710 works great for dragging brush. I just back up to the brush and drop the tines, move forward till it grabs something, then raise the 3 pt enough to keep from digging. Works great.
I did adjust the tines to line up with one another as opposed to the staggered setup normally used.
A field plow or chisel plow might work well?
My cultivator is only about 4' wide. I'm pretty sure that you can get them wider than 4'.
Good luck!

I can tell you from personal experience I wouldn't recommend a landscape rake for what you want to do. I did some similar work with mine and ended up twisting the main rail. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif If you have that much big stuff to go through I think that I would look seriously at a root rake set-up with /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif or without /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif a grapple for your FEL. WorkSaver makes a beauty.

I have a very similar situation, I am clearing my land for pasture of lots of trees, stumps, brush, etc. I am going to use a trachoe for a lot of the big stuff, But I am going to put a toothbar, probably from markham, on my new tractor and was thinking that I will be able to push most of it into piles with the bucket and toothbar, using the toothbar to eliminate getting too much dirt? I will see I guess if it works well, I am sure others will give us some info on this also?

Thanks Ryan

A pecan branch/stick rake may be useful to you. They are large and will drag some big stuff.

www.savageequipment.com will give you a description. You can sometimes find them used, but not often.

They are expensive for just one-time or occasional use. I have one and have had mixed results, mainly because I do not run cattle and the grass is thick and long enough that it gets carried with the logs/branches also.

I had a small root rake built for my front end loader that is just like you would find on large front end loaders that do land clearing. It works great for the size it is, I can move stumps to the burn pile or pick up logs. I have been root raking my property a little bit at a time with it and it has done great so far. I bought it through my dealer but the name of the compnay is Lynn's Welding in Perry, FL.

I will try to take some up close pictures when I get home if it is not to dark and post them in the next few days.

That would be great I will keep an eye out for them. I am learning a lot here and deciding what I need to accomplish my tasks...
