Rake Rake or boxblade?

Ok,
I mowed my 5 acre lot with my new rotary cutter. My next question is what implement would be best from here. I have relatively flat (Florida) property except where the rice tires have dug in a bit as well as the skid steer that removed all of the cut up trees from the hurricane with his grapple. My question is what would be better for leveling out the property from here? I have cut down shrubs and weeds left from the rotary cutter. I tried leveling by back blading with my FEL but wasn't very successful. What about a tooth bar would that help? Box blade? Rake? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

You'll still have roots to contend with, a task more suited for a box blade. But since boxblades are rough cut implements, I also have a landscape rake to "tidy up" after the box blade does the grunt work.

I would go with a boxblade. They are wonderful tools for working, moving and levelling dirt. If you have vegitation use something like Roundup to kill it first. That'll eliminate sod clods which are tough things to handle with any tool.

Get a boxblade. You'll be able to use the rippers to break up the dirt, then adjust the top link to use only the back blade part of the box to level with. On most BBs you can also push with the rear blade in reverse.
Ideally, you'd have the rake too as you can take that and "drag" the area after you've gotten it pretty level.
The rippers on the boxblade will also help you to rid the soil of the broken roots. John

The most used piece of equipment I have is a boxblade, I also leave it on most the time as ballast for the fel.
