Ram 2500 4x4 Cummins-opinions

If there is one thing I don稚 care for it is the giant RAM on the tailgate. Mine does not have it. I would like a dump trailer, saw some real nice ones on Tractor Time with Tim痴 you tube channel.

Exactly! I'm not sure why Dodge decided that putting such a big logo on the back was desirable. I've never heard anyone say anything good about it. I'm just glad the Laramie Sport model I chose had a normal Ram logo and not the giant 'RAM' logo.

Same way with the grill. I like the crosshair version better than the one with angles and the word 'RAM' on front.

Beautiful truck, especially that color with black rims.

Thanks, I love it! I'm always a sucker for the no-chrome look. I think Ram nailed the monochrome and black color scheme on these Sport models.

Things I like better than my Tundra-all doors unlock either when I exit or when I press the fob. Also like the automatic locking tailgate. Backup camera is better. Oil changes easier and Ram has a trans dipstick. Ram doesn’t ride as nice, but not comparing apples to apples-4wd 3/4 ton to 2wd 1/2 ton. Fuel mileage is better by 1mpg on average and fuel tank is much bigger. Do not care for where rear ac vents are in the Ram, much better placement in the Tundra. Ram bed lights are a plus as well as where they locate trailer plug ins. In closing, if my towing needs reduce and I am looking for a solid, reliable 1/2 ton, I will buy a Tundra again. But for low end power and towing, hard to beat a Cummins. Impressed so far. More updates to come.

I have had 2 dodge diesel pickups a 96 that had 380k plus when i sold it. The new owner restored it and just recently sold it 384k and going strong. I now have a 05 with almost 100k. the truck might not be the best in the world but in my opinion cummins are one awesome motor. they will run forever if you take care of them.

Glad you like the truck. I have a few friends that love the Cummins engines and will put them in anything.
Once you delete the emissions EVERYTHING, and tune, they are powerful and very fuel efficient.

Between my dad and I, we have owned, 5 Dodge Pickups. My 1st gen square body required extensive body repair work, And general maintenance, but the power train is OEM untouched, no issues.
My farm truck and occasional cruiser.

All of dads have been trouble free. 3 had 300k+ when traded in, all gas engines.
The 2nd gen Rams had VERY cheap interiors, and don’t age well.

Haven’t heard much bad about the newer and current Rams, besides the Hemis cracking their exhaust manifold.

One rule of thumb, if you plan to keep a Ram any great length of time...undercoat DAY 1, and keep the paint washed and waxed.
I don’t work for Chrysler, but I think they use a single stage paint, as it wears and ages as such.

This is the first Ram/Dodge I owned. Always been a Cummins fan, never really had a need for one until now. I do some side work (civil) that requires to tow in excess of 8k lbs about once a week. My Tundra did it for nearly 150k miles, but it was at its limit.

I really like the Tundra’s. Grandfather - in law has one, his is like a Cadillac inside. If I was buying a brand new pickup right now, it would be the Tacoma or the Canyon for me.
The Tundras fall into the same boat as the Nissan Titan (which also has a Cummins option), there’s a time you need a 3/4 or ton truck to hold the weight and stop the weight easier.

I hope you don't think the Nissan has the same Cummins option as the Dodge? NOT even close!!
