What failed? I had ball joints fail many times in ford 2 and 350s.

Whole tire came off and I think the w bearing just failed what caused it if I remember

Nothing about the 6.0 was great. Ask the people who spent thousands in repairs and new engines because of defects. Trucks spending more time at the dealership than operating. The stories are simply jaw dropping. Ford has really loyal customers who put up with it but from the outside looking in 6.0 Fords are complete disasters for many owners. Chevy and Dodge have never done anything remotely close to that to customers.

There was a thread on here just recently about a guy who was ready to dump the 6.0 because it was costing him so much and was constantly in the shop for major repairs.

Don't need to talk to anyone. Family owned one. Yes we had problems but we also had 4 mechanics that besided they wouldn't listen and do the bullet proof

No bashing, just facts. I have my hands on better than a dozen trucks each week through my hanger. We all know the Eco Diesel can do 28 mpg or better as we all know the Eco Boost can do 24 mpg or better. Here are two trucks real world numbers and it simply shows that the diesel is a tough sell. Especially when it has less ability.

Using the numbers of these two real world trucks the diesel got 30% better economy. That wouldn't be bad if the fuel was the same price. Gas in my area is $1.74 per gallon while diesel is $2.49. At the end of this he day they both cost $.10 per mile.

And there you go assuming that your little world situation applies to everyone on this site. This site has people from all over North America and Europe and Australia. In my part of the world for at least half of every year diesel is the same or lower than gas . Right now diesel is at 99 cents a litre and gas is at 106 cents . So no tough sell, and it looks like Motor Trend thinks that way too , and they get their hands on a lot more than 12 trucks.

I've made nearly that same drive, twice.... out and back! My guess is they took 74 out to Davenport, IA, to 80 to 29 or so and somehow ended up on the eastern edge of SD in Sioux Falls, then took 90 all the way across SD to WY and MT to Bozeman. I'll tell you this... the winds in South Dakota are brutal. In Mitchel, SD on November 11 the wind was 13MPH and on November 12 it was 22MPH. With gusts to 44. Depending on which days they hit, that could have been the issue. Also, historically, they would have been going into the wind. And the speed limit is 80 out there... so sure they were legal.... probably going 80-85 mph into the wind towing a box trailer. I wouldn't expect any truck to get anywhere near "advertised" MPG under those conditions. ;)

Weather History for Mitchell, SD| Weather Underground

13-22 mph winds are not brutal. That is a calm day. Right now our current measured conditions are a normal 26mph with gusts to 33mph. Last night had sustained winds of 30+ mph with gusts over 50mph.

In ontario since ULD was introduced . Highway diesel has been consistently more expensive than road gasoline by 7 to 18 cents a liter over the past eight years . Since this years drop in crude prices . There has been occasions when gasoline and diesel have cost the same depending on the time of day.
There are no price advantages in Ontario to use diesel in light highway applications with vehicles built since 2007.

One day, in the mid west states I can recall seeing a few semis on their side, others leaned way over and dog legging and one I was following was sideways for a while. On that day there was wind!

You don't need much of a headwind to get a hold of a trailer. There have been times on the praries when we couldn't even maintain the speed limit going east to west, and fuel consumption drops into the 3 mpg zone.

I am no troll and not as brand loyal as you think. My next truck will more than likely not be a Ford nut a Nissan.

I have owned them all. 4 GM, 1 Dodge, 1 Honda, 1 Toyota, 1 BMW, about 12 Fords, a Infinity, ect. By far in the domestic brands Ford has been tops but my experience is the Nissan was the best overall followed by Honda and Toyota.

You changed your avatar photo.... now you're a Mitsubishi biased internet troll!!!

On the south west side of South Bend, there's a curve in the bypass around town. The wind comes up out of central Illinois and across Indiana over some very flat land. It's only an 11 foot drop in elevation from the Illinois border to here. Just east of South Bend is the nation's RV manufacturing capitol, Elkhart, IN. Many, many times I've seen west-bound RVs and manufactured houses (as well as semis) flipped over by the wind and destroyed on the overpasses on that curve.

At the top of that photo is Lake Michigan. Its not uncommon to see waves crashing OVER the lighthouses on the southwest coast. Wind is a powerful force, for sure.

I will respectfully have to disagree (as seen every spring and summer driving along full length of trans Canada highway between Wawa, Sault, ste marie Sudbury and North bay) ..and even today gasbuddy.com shows gas here in Sault at 106 and diesel at 104 per litre. As expected as winter closes in diesel then this month starts to be same or more than gas for 5 or 6 months . ..........So it depends where you are located and time of year in Ontario and even in North America or world.
