I know someone though who almost lost his life to a Dodge front and giving out on him. But yes ford's 6.0 had problems but they were great motors when bullet proofed

What failed? I had ball joints fail many times in ford 2 and 350s.

As many of you know I am a corporate pilot. Yesterday I flew out to Bozeman Montana to pick up 3 of our upper level management guys. They had driven a 2015 Crew Cab Ram Eco Diesel from Indianapolis to Bozeman pulling a 12' single axle 3500# trailer lightly loaded with company uniforms primarily.

Long story short on the flight home I asked them how they liked the Eco Diesel. They all loved the interior and ride. What they didn't like was the power. They averaged 12 mpg. Our trucks are all monitored by GPS through our safety depth so I am sure they obayed the speed limit. They also said in the Rockies it plain stunk. They stated it got passed by everything and all 3 felt they would have been better off power wise and at least as good economy wise in one if our late model 5.3L Silverado's or 5.0L F150's.

I kind of suspected the power portion but not that poor of economy.

I've made nearly that same drive, twice.... out and back! My guess is they took 74 out to Davenport, IA, to 80 to 29 or so and somehow ended up on the eastern edge of SD in Sioux Falls, then took 90 all the way across SD to WY and MT to Bozeman. I'll tell you this... the winds in South Dakota are brutal. In Mitchel, SD on November 11 the wind was 13MPH and on November 12 it was 22MPH. With gusts to 44. Depending on which days they hit, that could have been the issue. Also, historically, they would have been going into the wind. And the speed limit is 80 out there... so sure they were legal.... probably going 80-85 mph into the wind towing a box trailer. I wouldn't expect any truck to get anywhere near "advertised" MPG under those conditions. ;)

Yesterday it blew 50+ in the area this drive took place, gusted to 80+ in some parts. Wind, Elevation, 80 MPH speed limits, and mountains are all mileage killers.

I But yes ford's 6.0 had problems but they were great motors when bullet proofed

Perfect example. Spend big dollars illegally bypassing the pollution systems using tricks that the aftermarket had to develop to defeat what Ford sold the public and could not fix. Then use that as evidence that they are "bullet proof". And on, and on, and on. It's OK, I'm enjoying the show.

Nothing about the 6.0 was great. Ask the people who spent thousands in repairs and new engines because of defects. Trucks spending more time at the dealership than operating. The stories are simply jaw dropping. Ford has really loyal customers who put up with it but from the outside looking in 6.0 Fords are complete disasters for many owners. Chevy and Dodge have never done anything remotely close to that to customers.

There was a thread on here just recently about a guy who was ready to dump the 6.0 because it was costing him so much and was constantly in the shop for major repairs.

Well it did nearly the same here in Indiana.

When we were returning to South Bend, IN from Bozeman, MT, traveling on I-90 in 2006 in our 2000 Impala we hit a horrible headwind out of the east all the way across South Dakota and well into Minnesota. That car routinely got 29MPG on the highway cruising at 65-70. We averaged 18 that day! In a car that got 29 normally. Wind, altitude, trailers, load, driving habits, etc... its all variables that are hard to compare apples to apples in uncontrolled seat-of-the-pants testing.

This entire thread is a complete troll job. You have made so many ridiculous claims about Ford vehicles over the years is't not even funny. The 6.0 diesel that never breaks down and gets 24 mpg was a classic. Or how repairing aluminum body panels cost the same as steel. Anybody who drives in the mountains at higher elevation while pulling a trailer can expect lower mileage than typical driving conditions. Pulling steep mountain grades is a mileage killer. You simply start these threads because you are an obsessed ford fanboy who get his rock off trolling tractor forums about how superior Ford is. The big 3 all make great vehicles. All will get lower mileage pulling steep mountain grades at high elevations pulling a trailer. Your avi is a perfect example of you being a fanboy.

I am no troll and not as brand loyal as you think. My next truck will more than likely not be a Ford nut a Nissan.

I have owned them all. 4 GM, 1 Dodge, 1 Honda, 1 Toyota, 1 BMW, about 12 Fords, a Infinity, ect. By far in the domestic brands Ford has been tops but my experience is the Nissan was the best overall followed by Honda and Toyota.
