Ran my 2201BD out of diesel, now it wont start? Any ideas?

any fuel in my tank left from last summer i just run in the spring. Deisel does not go bad like gas.

I need to pull my take and get some of the crud out of it. Looks like tiny pieces of like silicone in there? some sort of a rubber like stuff that loose in the bottom, a very thin pieces? I may do that since i need to replace my fuel line and fuel will go everywhere while i take it off anyway.
