Somebody correct me if I am wrong > >>> But, this video, this is just one part of the video, I remember about a year ago, maybe not that long, that this video was run on I think was a Polaris website. And it was not just showing the RTV's , it was comparing them to many utility vehicles. And of course, the Polaris came up on top, on everything. I have been looking for a couple of days for this WHOLE video, if someone has it or runs across it, please attach a link to it, for everybody to see that the RTV isn't the only one that was suppose to be the underdog ~~~~ I don't blame Polaris for making this promo video, that's just business !!!! But I do wish they would compare apples to apples when they do it ... But that's ok, for we all have different applications for different utility vehicles >>>>>>>

I had been wondering about that too as I thought there was another video but I couldn't remember if it was for ATV's or if it was even Polaris that put it out. Now I am going to have something to do with my spare time. Search YouTube for that video.

In the video shown Polaris made mention of a few points that the Ranger has an advantage (at least in the video but the suspension advantage seems clear). If Kubota put out a video they would show their "advantages" which would consist of the Kubota diesels power and fuel efficiency as well as a few other things. John Deere would show their advantages, Kawasaki theirs and so on. Each machine has an advantage over the others somewhere and that is what they will highlight.

If I do remember that video, it showed the different advantages the Polaris had over the competition but it wasn't an across the board type of advantage. They highlighted each advantage like this video showing the RTV. By the time the video was over they made it seem like the Ranger was the top across the board without saying or even showing it. They highlighted the individual advantages the Ranger had against each competitor and by the time they are lumped together you get a great promotional video.

Sadly, I know people who if they watched the video in this thread would run out and buy the Ranger without hesitation. But then again they buy just about everything they see on TV:eek:

TwoGuns, on a seperate issue, is that buck one that you harvested or is it from a trail camera?

I haven't set my cameras out for the last two years. Two years ago I just plain forgot about it until it was too late (we were real busy that year). Then this year I have the cameras ready to go out and I end up hurting myself. Hopefully when I get my UTV I will think about it more as I know it will be nice to take the cameras out to the woods without having to carry them between my legs on the Bombardier:rolleyes:

Do you think the RTV will be able to handle the weight from two digital Camtrakkers;)

Check out this video. A 6x6 with tracks (the ATV version 6x6). It looks like a lot of fun and I laughed when the guy jumped off the 6x6 into the snow:)

robert.,
You ask: TwoGuns, on a seperate issue, is that buck one that you harvested or is it from a trail camera?

The answer is yes to both, that shot is a camera shot the day before I harvested him >... I didn't want to take him, but I had my reasons for doing so. Wish I could have let him stay around for couple or so years ..... but that's another story !!! I have Cuddeback cameras stretched out all over the plantations & farms, they stay out there 24/7, 365 days a years !!! I do the deer management on the place . My wife & I, hunt it really hard !!! Heck, she kills as many monsters as any man >>>> We harvest some really nice deer !!!! Worked very hard for many, many years to get what I have now out there. Heck, My wife & I been doing the deer thing I think before they even come out with the fancy name of " Deer Management " >>> Have a total of 6632 acres of farmland and hardwoods. ( Also own a sign company and wife owns a beauty shop ).Farm soybeans, corn, milo, cotton, wheat, oaks, so they have got the food. They are some of the healthiest deer you will ever find. Hunt just about everyday. That the whole reason of me purchasing the RTV.
Not putting none others down, for they are some good ones out there, we have or have had just about all makes and models of the utility vehicles out on the farms, and the one that serves US best out there, is the RTV.
Cameras, well, now days, couldn't live without 'em... They tell the whole story about what my deer are doing, and what's going on in different areas all the time. Went hunting today, seen some really nice big bucks, but nothing I wanted to get right now, been hunting one that been haunting me for a few days... Our deer keeps us busy a bees during hunting season !!!!

We have been managing our place here since around 1998. We had to buy the neighbors property first as there were a couple poachers that liked that spot and would leave pull the back straps and hind quarters and throw the rest of the deer in an old shed over there. Once we bought the place we then were able to start managing our place as best as we can. We have a major Interstate that cuts thru our land and a fairly heavy State road that borders the front of our land so between those two roads they do a number on the population so it is hard to really keep track of everything here:(

Our neighbor use to think we were nuts for our managment tactics but this year he shot a nice buck and the first thing he did was thank us as he was hunting on our common border. I was happy he got it as he is a good guy and hunts for food first so I understand his position. His property is a farm and is all open field except for about 5 acres of brush that divides our orchard from his field.

Ever since people started learning about deer managment we have had people asking us all sorts of questions as if we were experts or something. We try different food plots each year as well as spreading out a lot of food plots all over our property so that the deer don't all come to one place (if they do then we know they like that plot (at least for that year)) We have learned a lot since we started raising deer in 97 and that has helped us with the wild deer and hunting also.

I know which ever UTV I buy it is going to see a lot of use as Ava wants to go with us anytime we head out back. So it will have at least two passengers most of the time.

I put a post on Deerlopes thread asking about tracks as I am worried this black muck we have for a ground will swallow the RTV as it looks solid until you drive onto it and then you sink and it forms an amazing vacume. As wide as these UTV's are I am worried I won't' make it back out as I can get my tractors stuck quite easily if I find a wet spot. Do you have any experience with tracks for the RTV or companies (besides Mattracks) that makes tracks for the RTV or any UTV really? Between the snow (looking at the youtube videos it looks like fun) and mud I could almost see myself trying to justify buying a set of tracks:rolleyes:

Once you start watching the video ....

You have to click on the thread and then start watching the video before you know it is an ad.

It's an ad for the Polaris Ranger and that's not represented in the title. The reaction of the RTV owners is to say it's an ad. If the title or the post had represented it as such you wouldn't have seen the reaction of the RTV owners. You're asking why RTV owners reacted.

If I had known it was an ad I probably wouldn't have waisted my time reading the thread in the first place.

It's not always easy to write a good descriptive thread title.

I still don't see any mis-representation with Skips title. But some of the RTV owners seem to get upset over the fact that this shows the Ranger being better in some aspects then the RTV. Basically it is blind pride in their machine.

In the world of tractors I hover towards blue because the dealer is close and I have had a great relationship with my NH dealer. In the world of UTV's I can care less who makes it as long as I like the dealer and the machine fits my needs. So if the RTV ends up the winner of my Demo playoffs then I will be in an orange machine (I like the color since one of its jobs will be shuttling me along the roads to my other fields so Orange will show up better). Otherwise I hope to get a machine in a bright color like Red if the RTV doesn't win the playoffs.

Now if New Holland made one in Blue......:D

robert,
No, I don't have any experiance with the tracks. But, I know what I would do in your case, whatever UTV you deside on. Try the ITP 589's on them.
You were talking about the " Black Muck Mud " , well, we have the same PROBLEM MUD down here in Louisiana, we call it " GUMBO MUD " ,,, a mans worst nightmare. It acts just like you stated, vacuum, break crust, sticky and you sink out of site >>>> I am not trying to promote the RTV !!!!! But with any of the stock tires I could see where I was going to get myself in trouble, and find myself walking miles out of the swamps in the night . Anyway, purchased the 589's, installed them on the RTV, and my troubles are over. I put this machine in places that would blow your mind !!! Crawls threw like a catapillar. Weather folks say the RTV is a three wheel drive, or a four wheel drive, or runs like a uni-cycle, don't give a crap, I know, what I know, these tires on my RTV does serve the purpose on the farms, disc fields, swampy mud holes , and pulls great. Now, you might find out that the Yamaha Rhino, or Mule might serve your purpose, but I would install the tires before I'd jump out with the money on some tracks... Tracks might be the best thing in the world, but in my case, now, I don't need them !!!
