Personally don't have much time for one company bashing another's product to promote their own.
Both are good products in their own right but sufficiently different that direct comparison is unfair.
Heavy vehicles have generally a slower speed but good for towing.
Lighter vehicles more agile and good for higher speeds.

The only problem I had with the RTV 900 was legroom as I come in Xtra large/tall size :)
Other than that, folks here have good things to say about them.
That's a good enough recommendation for me,
those from the end user.

I personally like the lack of leg room as does the wife. I am 5' 5" and the wife is 5'1" so we can actually reach the floor. :')

I only found one dealer who would bring a demo unit to me. I was a mule. It was a unit he used personally and also for demo work. I did demo the ranger and the rtv but at the dealerships. If you can find a dealer who is willing to let you take a new machine and slop around in the mud I will be surprised. That would be a nightmare for them to clean up and would devalue the machine. It would never look new, unless they are willing to tear it down and clean the little areas you can't really get at but can see. I am sure you have seen atv's or motorcycles that have been in the mud. It is all but impossible to make them look like new. I personally wouldn't pay full price for a machine that was used that way. Unless of course I did it. That would however leave a couple other machines for someone else buy. .

I was thinking the same thing. Unless the dealer had dedicated "demo" units to use for this purpose and then sell at a substantial discount later.

A few years ago when I was shopping for an ATV, they advice I got from the ATV forums was to try several and choose what seems to fit best. I found this to be almost a catch-22. Don't buy till you try it - but you can't really try it until you buy it. The best you could hope for from the dealer was a ride around the parking lot (not a very good way to evaluate). So, unless you had friends who were riders (which I didn't) who would let you take their ATV for a true test drive and these friends had the brands / models you were considering, the decision making process was difficult.

Robert must have some great dealers in his area to readily provide units for demo evaluations like that.

yea if i would ask them to bring one out to me they would laugh.or ask me to buy it first.the only test drive you get around here is on thier lots.

I guess that was my experience. I have purchased several 4 wheelers thru the years and the only demo I got was in the parking lot. As I said the dealer with the mule was willing to bring that one out because he used it on his farm. The Polaris dealer left me drive around the building as did 2 RTV dealers.

I would be great to really try them but that has not been my experience with any of this type of equipment.

I can see maybe a dealer being willing to do this but to get every manufactures dealer to go along will be a real stretch.

So far I have a Trekker, Ranger and XUV I have been cleared to bring in (I won't bring in the XUV because it doesn't have a bench seat). I was also told I could bring in the Rhino That was on the first time I ever stopped at that dealership, they even asked if I had a trailer with me so they could load it up for me to try. The Rhino doesn't fit my use so I won't bring one out. I am sure my one Case-IH dealer who sells Cubs would let me demo their UTV. I have not asked the Mule dealer or the RTV dealers but I am nervous about the local RTV dealer giving the go ahead. The other Case-IH dealer who sells Kubota's also might but he is almost twice as far away.

I am not going to promise all these machines are brand new off the showroom floor as they may be demo machines they use until they sell it. But they are all current models.

It seems the majority of people like the bench seat.
The rtv 1100 seat is very comfortable. Being able to ride a 3rd person upfront is a definite plus.
I don't see how it could be any better for a bad back. Maybe the extra room allows you to move and stay comfortable.
Luckily I only have bad hips and knees. Back is a little crooked but it works well. :)

I do think it is because of the ability to move around more and easier.

sitting upright is better for the back then a bucket seat. but on the other hand sliding around on a bench seat isn't to good for ya too. but then again you shouldn't be slidin ifin your wearin your seat belt right?
