DITTO!
We use vacuum sealing all the time.
We often buy a whole $5 Perdue cooked chicken at BJ's (similar to COSTCO), split, and immediately seal/freeze half.
Just two of us old folks.
We buy in bulk and then vacuum seal in the portions we use. No waste.

I do the same except that mine come from the hatchery. I add feed and water... :D

i read about disability and govt employees a long time ago, prior to online. But i agree, just cause it's in print.

This fellow was writing an article on phony disability. He found a zip code in the NY city area where the incidence of disability was off the charts. That zip code was also off filled with police and fire fighters as residents....coincidence?

My neighbor was a fire fighter in a big city, went to major dangerous fires all the time. My father in law was a fire fighter in a small town, went to 2 garage fires in his entire career.

I'm gonna bet it's much worse now. Every morning I see 10 commercials for disability lawyers....they come right after the class action lawyer commercials.

It ALWAYS comes down to this.....please.....tell me 1 thing the govt does well.
Of all the people I know who have taken early disability retirement, ALL of them are cops. Weird that they can take on new side gigs doing remodeling and construction work as their blue disability paycheck rolls in each month.

Nobody is making anyone become a firefighter or a cop. In fact, we have an all volunteer firefighting force and they all do it because they want to ..... not for working 10 days a month for ridiculous pay.

BTW --- consider the fact that the US is still standing after 240+ yrs as an indication that the "govt is doing something right". We also did nuclear weapons well. Interstate highway system. National Parks. Clean air and water act.

Ask private industries like Haliburton, Black Water, Lockheed Martin, Raytheon, Corrections Corporations of America etc..... why they lobby for govt contracts. Not
because they can do it better.

The flavor has been bred out of commercial tomatoes. Now it’s all about uniformity of size, color, and pest resistance. And they must hold up to shipping which is why many are picked when mature but still green.
A (sort of) local place has a HUGE indoor greenhouse, I am told that they grow tomatoes that actually taste like homegrown ones: Intergrow Greenhouses, Inc. | Our Farm

The last time we grew tomatoes, we froze them solid on cookie sheets and then vacuum sealed them. For cooking and use in stews and spaghetti sauce they were still flavorful and beautifully red. Lasted 10 years!

My wife does the same. Works great.

So a Prime video gives me free shipping and streaming streaming video?

If so at $12.99 a month it is $7 less than Netflix. Anyone switch from Netflix to Prime Video? Not a big $ savings on the streaming but not waiting tor ~5 days to get free shipping would be nice.

I have both Netflix and Prime. If I had to give up one it would be Netflix. Offerings seem to be getting thin.

Yes the video is included with Prime membership. Annual subscription only I believe But not sure.

I am not fond of Netflix.
At this point they keep telling me my picks are to rewatch what I already played!
Wife won;t let me dump them, what a waste of money.

Prime is pretty good, not perfect, but outshines Netflix.

I'm glad never bought into any of the services... Cell and DSL work related...

The old rabbit ears bring in 60+ channels and half are English...

New local last mile Amazon distribution center. Delivery has gotten better even though they are still getting the facility up and going

These days, we vacuum seal a lot more of everything. Food lasts so much longer and stays much fresher. We even gave up the "Blanching" process as we can't tell any difference. Saves a lot of time and effort.
Someone gave us a vacuum sealer a while back. We'll use it for stuff that doesn't can well...berries, peas, etc. but that's about it. The bag material is kind of expensive, and can only be re-used once or twice (wish it would seal closer to the edge rather than 1" in) so when you factor that in you're not really saving much.
I don't think I would have one if it hadn't been a gift.

Where we live, food prices are twice as high or more than the average cost. A vacuum sealer helps prolong the freezer life of our food and actually saves us money.

Yes, on the East end of the runway above the Defiance boat dealer.
Yeah, seen it from the hwy and roundabout but have driven by close. We get deliveries now any day of the week and sometimes next day. Last week I ordered on a Saturday and package come Sunday! Amazing.

Okay, here is my one and only rant on shipping.....

While going to town an ambulance was headed in the opposite direction with full lights and siren going.....

I along with nearly everyone else pulled to the side...... except for an Amazon Prime van. Oblivious as hell, the van stayed in its lane and the ambulance had to go around it. It pulled over AFTER the ambulance passed.

Take the dang headphones off !

Get the plate, call it into Amazon customer service and let them know the time, date and location.
