I use electrical tape. Easily ripped off by hand and comes in long rolls.

There’s a video of a guy rolling a strap on here for storage. I was pretty sure he was over complicating things. I thought you could tighten the strap on itself and after trying it you can. The method works pretty good and looks neat, but I think my old method is less troublesome especially for someone else trying to lend a hand. IMG_0723.JPGIMG_0724.JPG

Au contrair, at highway speeds the roll needs to be secured or it bounces around.

Yes but who cares? I do my straps that way and yes the roll can bounce around but it doesn’t come loose and if done right it has less than a foot of slack and doesn’t go anywhere.

The zip ties, tape, bailing wire, Velcro or whatever work better and are cleaner but they all require having something extra. I like the roll method because I can do it anywhere with any strap and not need anything else with me.

Securing motorcycles for a highway trip, slack could damage the finish or bodywork so I want the $2 worth of Velcro straps.

Also bought some of the self-retracting units but haven稚 used them yet.

Put the ratchet and roll down low on the trailer side not the motorcycle side so it isn't rubbing on the bike?

To save $2?

Probably doesn’t matter if you are towing a tractor down a back road.

I always put the ratchet on the trailer side anyway because it’s a lot easier to deal with it while standing on the ground.
