Went rattle snake hunting when I was a teenager with my Dad and some of his friends and they just poured a little gas down holes in the ground to run them out then took them out with a 12 gauge.

I get around 4 to 5 rattlers per season in the yard. We bought a Gentle Giant snake handler pole to grab them and place them into a plastic trunk. Then they get taken for a ride down the road where we cut them loose.
LOL! Didn't think to take pictures but will if he reappears. I poured ammonia in several of the holes around where he was; nobody bolted out immediately but I didn't have time to hang around and watch (deadlines - danged customers won't pay me unless they get their stuff finished - so annoying
). It may have worked though 'cause no sign of him since. Fingers crossed and thanks to everyone for the help & suggestions.

Not sure how well it works, never tried it, but I've always heard moth balls were a good deterrent for snakes. Might could tried to put some around just to keep them from coming back.

Try 22 birdshot, it doesn't pack much of a punch so you won't have it ricocheting off your wall.
