Come on bubba, lots of manly men drive Rav4s etc. some even drive cars. To impress my neighbors and keep my "man card" active, I get i my Ford 350 and park down by the road with my Dekalb cap on with a match stick clinched in my teeth looking all steely eyed.

Have a highlander for my daughter,definitely asphalt only.
Blew engine at field party, damaged oil pan and engine seized before any oil light came on

hey good point triple r actually my rav4 is in the shop for repair & i intend to keep using it! it does serve a purpose. my point is that it's construction is very light weight. and i stand corrected for my sexist comment!:thumbsup: just as one 8540 owner to another....hey, now that's a man's machine....all in good fun

Yeah, just fooling with you, I well know the limitations and light build of the small crossovers, but the low height and better ride are sure a boon to my old bones.

A friend of mine just bought a new Rav4. She loves it. Said it pretty much drives itself. Stays in its lane, brakes automatically, etc.... the man-card was mentioned.... her husband turns all that stuff off when he drives it! :laughing:

Have owned 1 crosstrek, and 2 RAV4's for the wife. The little Crosstrek was nice but too darn small inside and really low driving position.
The RAV4's (past and present) have been great, sold the one with close to 100K without a repair just to get something newer with more bells and whistles for the wife as she has to drive a lot in all kinds of weather (mountains of WV). Got 60,000 on a 2013 and it has been perfect and gets her anywhere she needs to go even in very bad weather. (Not 4 wheeling but on gravel, dirt and asphalt roads in the mountains.
She has been hit 3 times between the 2 vehicles and each time the damage was not bad and no injuries so I really like that. In a few years we pretty much plan on selling this one off and getting another new one - she is to the point she could careless if we even look at other vehicles she likes them so much. (I'm pretty open on that but its her car so I guess I will just head to Toyota for her....)

I think the top 3 mid size crossover SUV's has been the Subaru Forester, Honda CRV, and Toyota Rav4 for a long, LONG time.. I think they just swap positions with each being #1 at some point.. Honestly you can't go wrong with a Rav4.. Personally I would prefer the Subaru Forester or Crosstrek My wife is looking for a new Crossover and Im hoping she goes with a Honda Pilot or Toyota Highlander (she is tired of her subaru, but has 145k miles on it) Brian Brian

Now there is a tough choice. I love both of them, but I think the Highlander would get the nod from me. (We currently have a 2010 Pilot with only 60,000 miles on it, which we will hang onto because we don't like how they rounded off the new Honda Pilot. It just doesn't look like an SUV anymore. Those lovely square shoulders at the back have been rounded off, and it has now turned into that jellybean shape that so many of the other vehicles have adopted now.)

On the other hand, I would ONLY get the latest model of the Highlander. In previous models, they made the middle rear seat into this crappy little thing that was virtually useless. Now it is much more roomy, and I kind of like the way the rear end looks.

Mechanically, I think they are both fabulous.
