Razor Blades and Wal Mart

My thought is if you need to do this, fine, just make it customer friendly. I should not have to go to the front desk, ask for help, go back to the blades, wait 5 min for someone to come over to help me, then walk with me to the front or have them waiting for me at a register.

I think they need a "lock-up" section in the stores. Everything that needs to be locked up is in that section and those items are listed in plain view. But they must have enough employees in that section to properly distribute those items.

I think that's a well thought out request. I can tell you that it irritates me to go into any store and find materials locked up and nobody in sight. That happened to me when shopping for circuit breakers at Home Depot. When I finally got someone to show up with the key, they just handed me the breakers and walked off. I thought they would take them to customer service and I'd have to pick them up on the way out of the store. But no, I just put them in my basket and the clerk walked away, never to be seen again. What purpose did locking the CBs have?

I agree with you that lock-up goods should all be in the same place near the front of the store and steps taken to ensure quick response and security for the store too. I don't want to pay more for something because the store loses it to shoplifters. I also know my time is money and I don't want to lose money by the "back door" either.

The razors are not locked up in our grocery store but they are kept up front where the cashiers can keep an eye on them. What is locked up is smokes and baby formula.

There has been too many little stores close down because of Walmart.
Walmart will open a new store in a small town and get all the business...then shut down their own store in that town.

I can drive 20 miles and see 4 different Walmarts.


My wife bought me an electric razor 3 years ago and last year i needed to replace the blades...went to get new ones and they don't carry that type no more....In the garbage it went.

My wife bought me an electric razor 3 years ago and last year i needed to replace the blades...went to get new ones and they don't carry that type no more....In the garbage it went.

And if they locked the doors on all the Walmarts, we'd all be paying higher prices for things. We have a brand new Kroger's grocery store in the area; a really nice facility, and we already had a pretty nice Kroger's nearby, as well as a couple of Albertson's and Brookshires, but the prices are just so much higher that we buy most of our groceries at Walmart.

And we have 4 Walmarts within 12 miles and another under construction.

And my electric razor is a bit over 6 years old. I didn't buy the razor from Walmart, but I've bought replacement "heads" at Walmart.

No Wal-Marts seem to have replacements for me. A few years ago I finally wore out my grandfather's strop (c. 1905??). My brother inherited our dad's much newer strop (c. 1935??), so I had to find a new one. I found a really nice one for about $75.

I've almost always shaved with a straight razor, except for some of my days in the Navy in the 60s and 70s, when they made me use a safety razor. I also need to take those miserable dinky plastic razors when I now travel by air.

My biggest problem in recent years was finding mug shaving soap. I found a store in North Carolina that had a shelf full. I bought a lifetime supply (unless I live past about 120).

If you've never shaved with warm foam whipped in a cup with a badger bristle brush, and then slipped off your stubble with a really sharp straight razor, you just haven't lived. I do it every morning.

If nothing else, ask around and find a barber who will steam your face with a hot towel, apply hot mixed foam with a badger brush, and shave you smooth with a strop-sharpened straight razor. You'll walk away relaxed and weak-kneed, and you won't have to shave for two more days.

Well here is my rant for the day. Went to Wal Mart for the second time this year, only went 3 times last year...I hate to go there.

I hate that place too.

I wouldn't know if the Wal-Mart by me is locking them up. I refuse to shop at Wal-Mart. I HATE that place.

We stopped shopping at Walmart...We HATE that place too.

WOW is all I can say...
I thought something was weird a few weeks back when I went in to replace my electric razor and couldn't find them.

If they locked all the doors, there would be MORE stores and the small stores that got put out of business because of Walmart...might come back....That's why we support the little man...

I'm not the only one that hates Walmart...OR....won't shop there.
