Tractors purchased in Canada with 60 pto hp or above are GST exempt. If I bought the same 5425 in the US and imported it I would have to pay both taxes and I would not have been eligible for the Equine Canada Members Plus rebate program which amounts to 23% off list. I would have payed a lot more for the tractor if I purchased it in the US.
One thing I like about JD is they are up front about pricing, it's not a mystery. You can spend hours on the Deere.com website spec'ing out different models/options and seeing what the results are.
When it was time to buy, I had a pretty good idea what I wanted and how much it was going to cost. Kubota, NH, MF couldn't touch it.
