My wife put a piece of black plastic over the meter box hole to keep rain out of the assembly until the power company installs the meter.

Here we are - proud of a job well-done (or over-done).

To finish the day, I carried over this large tree section to act as a table near the fire. (The high for the day was about 45 degrees F). We spent a little time enjoying the fire and the scenary before heading out. I'm looking forward to the time when the camper is hooked up so I don't have to leave at the end of the day.

Thanks for participating in my electric pole project. You guys made it a lot more fun!

For my next project I'm going tackle this tree. Best Way To Remove This Tree. Finishing the tree project got post-poned unexpectedly by the electric pole project.

Obed,
Particle board is not the best thing to use in an outdoor setting.
Also, I had noticed that the recepticles were quite low and would suggest about a 2" diameter area of pea gravel around the base of the pole to minimize rain splash.

Here's the funny thing. The pole had already passed inspection when we first saw the work. My wife called the electric company to tell them to wait on connecting power because we were going to re-set the pole in concrete. The electric company told her that was fine, just to call them back when we were ready to get the pole connected to power. It didn't sound like they planned on re-inspecting the pole. My wife called the power company this past Monday and told them we had re-set the pole and were ready to have the power connected. It appears that no re-inspection is going to happen.

Obed,

That's great news, I must have missed the inspection part of post...

I'm feeling very lucky today that we were spared the bad Tornadoes that past by us this moring. It hit as close as 2 miles south of us, extending beyond over 20 more miles to our south and 40 miles to the west and to the east. Although we where not there at the property, since we live in South Florida and commute up to the Central Florida area as often as we can it really hurts knowing what all these people are going through. When I first heard the news this morning, I called my neightbor who lives up there next to us to see if he and his wife were ok, we just said good-bye to them Sunday. He told me they where, but it was one H*** of a night. He went on telling me that our place was ok and for us not to worry, and his place ok as well. Although I could tell there was something wrong in his voice, and continued to ask what's wrong. He told me that he grew up in this area and he has lived his entire life there, except when he was in the marine corps. In a small Town south of us named Pasely and Larger town of Deland, FL. that he had lost 11 friends to the strom that he and his family knew there. Man o Man it hit me pretty hard, I felt his pain. I have had a really hard day, sorry I'm leaving you this long message but I just got on TBN thought this might help somehow...

Sorry to hear of your friends loss. I hope the rest of the country helps out, there sure has been a lot of devastation in the last few years. Our prayers are with the good people of Florida, and hope you and your family stay safe.

We've got power!
We went to the property Saturday and discovered that the meter has been installed. Happy! Happy!

As you can see, we haven't yet installed the guy wire.
