Ready to buy 4310: could use some help

I am planning on purhcasing a 4310. I am unsure of pricing. After reading the discussions here, I was thinking of purchasing eHydro with Speedmatch and Cruse Control, Mid PTO and Rear SCV with R1 tires. I want the heavyduty Loader with the removable edge on the bucket. Price is $19980. They said the loader was $3633.

I rented a 4210 with Armor, bucket and tiller for three days, so I have used that model.

Since I will be clearing heay brush, is the Armor stuff a good idea?

The other two implements I am considering 655 JD Tiller $1705 and a JD Flail $3000. Are there any known problems with this Tiller. Should I be considering another brand such as Land Pride? I had a bad experience years ago with a JD tiller.

Has anyone else purchased the Speedmatch and Cruse as I don't see it mentioned in others posts. I would appreciate any help on this configuration and the price. I'm in the OR area.

I figure that if I rent a tractor 12 times in a year I would pay about what it costs to buy it on a monthly basis. I plan to use the tractor to clear 3 acres and do work on a friends rental properties-landscape, etc.

Would really appreciate your comments.

Given how inexpensive the e-controls were, I got them all and haven't regreted it. Even though I would never buy an automatic in a car the eHydro in the tractor is a perfect fit for me since I do a lot of loader work and have to fit into some tight spaces. Unless I had really wide open areas and wanted a gear transmission for a specific reason, I'd still go with the eHydro.

With respect to the body armor... The plastic on the Deere scratches easily so if want to go adventuring in the brush and you are not one to see your baby looking rough around the edges after the fact you may want the armor.

As for the tiller. I don't own one or know anyone who does but I've pretty much sworn off Deere attachments that aren't specifically tailored to the tractor. My 4310 has a 48 BH, 430 FEL with HD bucket and a 59" front mounted snowblower. All Deere, but only because I didn't want to worry about fit and performance. For a 3PTH attachment I would look at other manufactures for quality and price as I think Deere attachments are way overpriced. Everytime I've looked at getting something else I checked out Deere first and said to myself "Ican do better than this". This isn't to knock Deere - Heck, I bought their tractor in the first place and I love it, it's just that I know I can find better quality/price on a non-Deere implement. Hope this helps,

I saved a good deal of money by purchasing my 4310 out-of-state. I paid for that by a great deal of head and gut ache with poor dealer prep and lots of conflict, even with Deere. I love my tractor now, even with some minor problems. My advice is to find a reputable dealer with a conscience with whom you can work over time. As with anything, there will be problems, so the relationship is important.

Check out my recent posts in the attachment forum about Midwest implements. I have found them to be really good for the price -- and they paint in JD green if you wish. I did buy a JD tiller and absolutely love it. However, as others have mentioned, Deere attachments are very pricey.

Some other considerations: go for the 4in1 bucket. I also bought top and tilt. An improvement needs to be made so the tilt cylinder doesn't "bleed" down. That being said, I can attach implements very easily. The Midwest implements are compatible with the I-match quick hitch which I also purchased. I'm really using my tractor heavily this year and all of the above have really allowed me to get the most out of this terrific CUT.

I really put the 4210 through its paces. People in the neighborhood were shocked by the amount of work I accomplished. My neighbor came over and offered his help with cutting up some of the trees I knocked over.

I used it like a bulldozer. I had 12 foot scotchbroom as well as large and small trees. I used the front bucket to knock down the small trees, then ran over the stuff I knocked down with the rototiller, or piled it up to later burn. On large trees I dug out one side and pushed on the other side. On scotchbroom I ran the front bucket about 3 inches above ground to dig them up.

The balance of the machine was excellent. The weight was adequate enough that I didn't get stuck. I think the 4310 will give me the weight to do landscape type work. I think you need more weight/traction in small areas.

I read in a post that weight of the machine is important in allowing you to get under or to push things; If the machine is to light the tires just spin. Someone was thinking when this was designed this machine.

One big concern is when pusing stuff that branch come back into the machine, and potentially at you. You have to be careful or you will destroy the machine or yourself.

Hey, if anybody has purchased this configuration, (4310 eHydro with speedmatch, cruse control with heavy duty loader with replaceable bucket edge, mid PTO, Rear SCV, R1 tires for $19980) I really need help as I don't want to pay more than a fair price. I am not trying to steal it, just pay a fair price.

I am unhappy with my local dealer, because he fixed my JD lawn mover one fall and when I went to use it the following spring it didn't work at all. I told him that I brought it in for the fall/over winter storage/tuneup so that it would be ready in the spring. It was working when I brought it to him, it didn't work at all when I started it in the spring. He said it need extensive work, so much that I shoud buy a new mower. I didn't like the feeling I got in the conversation and way things went.

This is a fairly large dealer, maybe 3 or 4 shops that sell JD equipment, so I don't have much choice were I live.

Since I am working out of state I though I might as well buy out of state and have it serviced there.

I think many of these dealers are locking in large areas in such a way that you can't really "commute" to another dealer.

Since my situation is very unusual, I can use another dealer. I wonder if dealers in farm areas are use to having more customer and treat them better than dealers in more urban areas. I don't know how you can really know a good dealer from a bad dealer until you start using them.

Thanks for the help. I wondered what others thought of the Speedmatch and Cruse. It seems that if you want to really use the machine these things make a difference. I don't see many posts about them. I have spent 8 hours working on a tractor and find them very useful, well worth the money.

But then again some people out there have years of experience to my few days. Also, does this equipment hold up over time and use. Many things don't, so I wonder about that part of the purchase decision.

I think the electronics on the 4000TEN's is done "Right" I think that not only will the electronics be trouble free, but it will also help the mechanical systems be less prone to troubles. Deere has a lot of ex[eroence with this stuff. I did not buy the upgrades only because they are cheap add ons for presents and things.... But I would like to have both the cruise upgrade and the speedmatch.

As to far away dealers. I think you should buy from a dealer that you would nt be sorry taking the tractor back to. You might find a closer dealer to do service; but be ready to have to go back to the selling dealer. You can't lose, that way.

FWIW I paid $23000. No midPTO the 47 Hoe was $5K. I am VERY happy with the R1s. Mine are set full width and I feel very stable.

Mike, thank you for the info. I really appreciate your comments. It is hard to know what others have experienced with dealers and what they ordered. Your comments give me a sense that you have experiece with JD and feel they make a good product.

I am a bit concerned that not many people have commented. I wonder if most purchases include these two items.

If anybody out there feels it is a waste of money to purchase the Speedmatch or the Cruse, please let me know.

I decided against the automotive style cruise control because the longest straight line on our property isn't much more than 100 feet. It seemed like there is nowhere here to use it. Speedmatch may have some use but I figured if I found a need for it I could add it later.
