I checked on tire size just now, but the tires are so covered in dirt, I can't read the numbers. I'll get back to you later.

( check out burden surplus center, hyd. wheel motors with a internal brake. this would require a new mount.but you could make them. the brake is spring on and hyd. pressure off. no need for a brake pedal /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif )

Wow. Great website. I wonder if any of these wheel motors would substitute for the PT425s.

What do you guys think?

Sincerely,

Rob /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

If you mean interchange with the current motors, the answer is no. I suspect that with enough work and $$$, any motor with a reasonable match to the current motors' hydraulic characteristics could be made to work. However, I see little value in going to that length when bolt on replacements are available.

My tire size on the 422 is 23 X 10.5 12NHS. These are the bar tires. I would hate to loose ground clearance since I do drive through mud.

Using this kind of motor/brake combo requires dealing with the "how do I release the brakes to roll it when the engine is dead" issue. PT installs something called a BrakeTender on their larger models. I believe it provides a means to pump up pressure manually.

Something like it would be required for the spring/hydraulic brakes.

Yes. If you lost the engine or hydraulics, the motor brakes would lock up, then you'd be stuck. There may be some sort of release on the wheel motors, but you'd have to do all of the wheel motors VS just doing the one release on the hydraulic pump on the current setup.

what you say is true, but the reason for this is safety. if you lose power, blow a hyd.line, or what ever the brakes go on.you cannot depend on draging the tool you have on the front to stop you going down a hill. a mower deck doesn't lend it's self to being a great brake,or a bucket going backwards.the parking brake isn't getting it,while moving.
you can add a fitting to pump in pressure to move it but that doesn't make sense if it's broke. you fix it then move it out on it's own /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

MR. if lose hyd.pressure for some reason like a line, leak or what ever.and the brakes come on they just saved your bacon /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif you try to run it you will burn up the pumps.now you have more to fix. look at it as a safety factor /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif thats why all big equip. has that feature built in.after you take a couple rides in an old D9 you will be glad it's there /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif
