Never heard that about Seagal but have heard that Jean Claude Van Damme isn't the bad arse they make him out too be, but like you say wound'nt want to find out the hard way either.

Right up there with the toughest. I loved 'Rogue Warrior' but figured it took some license here & there. Then several years ago I met a retired Navy Seal who knew Marcinko and I asked him if he really did all the stuff in the book. The answer was yes and then some. He said the guy was practically super-human and also super-crazy. Boggles the mind.

I knew a guy in California who had FIVE helicopters shot out from under him in Vietnam. Talk about lucky. I'm guessing he might qualify as a tough guy, too.

My uncle who was shot in France in WW11 in a fox hole. The projectile went through his commanding officer and killed him, then struck my uncle. My daddy told me about, he never mentioned a word about it.

Much safer. I thought I was tough when I was young. Long story, I was wrong. Watching Casablanca now, about as tough as I want to be.

Toughest guy I ever knew was a friend who has unfortunately passed many years ago. He was a police officer originally, but was shot in the chest and apparently it shredded one of his lungs, ruining it. He survived the event, and at some point was to receive a lung transplant. They gave him general anesthesia which apparently killed him (overdose by anesthesiologist?) so since the doctor already had his chest cracked open he reached in and manually pumped his heart and brought him back to life - AWAKE.

Doc told him he'd have to go through the rest of it without anesthesia... he lived to tell the tale for a few decades. I'll spare you the details and aftermath, but it sounded like it was from a gory horror movie rather than real life.

Great guy, really miss his intellect. He asked me if I knew what the most addictive substance on Earth was.. when I shrugged he simply said "Oxygen."
