I'm looking for a rear blade. I have a NH 2420 (60 HP). I'm not sure whether I should get a 6' or 7'. Also, I really don't want to spend more than $500-$600. I know that's at the lower end of the scale but I'd like to get the best quality for the dollar that I can, so if you have any experience and recommendations with a blade I'd like to hear about it. I'd really like to get a blade with a hydraulic unit but they are pretty pricey.

Not to rain on your parade, but anything new that you buy for that money can be pretzeled by your tractor.:( At best you will need to spend about $1000 for a manual operated rear blade, and you might have to be careful with that. You need to look for a used one to get close to your price range and then most likely it will still be to light duty for you.

I made the mistake of spending around $1k for my first rear blade. Don't get me wrong, it was an ok blade for a 50hp tractor. But I have a 75hp tractor and I bent it the very first time that I used it. Warranty said that it was abused and would not cover the damage, I continued to use it and it continued to bend. Ended up getting a $4k Land Pride blade, now it is one nice blade. :D

When it comes to implements and attachments, you usually get what you pay for. ;) Oh, I would highly consider an 8 foot blade for your tractor.

Good luck

I have removable end plates for my Frontier 6' blade and they make all the difference as far being able to direct dirt to where you want it. Most times I just use one end plate, sometimes both.

Getting end plates is my suggestion.

Yes 6 is way to short for a 60 hp i run a 7 on my 1070 jd and its only 40 hp. I have the 2184 john deere knock off brand(fronteir sp?) its rated to 75 hp 2wd 60 hp in 4x4 I dont think it woudl take 60. it was 1200 new i got mine used for 550.

if you cant spend 1500+ i woudl look at used blades you will get alot more for the $ woods, jd, bush hog, land price all make good blades if you dont buy the low end ones.

jamesa,
I have a KK heavy duty one, 3 way manual and I think it's a 7'. I well check today. I don't use it much because it's to heavy for my use. I couldn't see where you are from, I'm in MO. It's in your price range and if interest let me know. Lee

Have to agree that you'll want more than a 6' blade. I bought a Landpride blade (RB 3584), not near as nice as MtnViewRanch's, but then again I don't have near the tractor that he does. My 35 hp machine has no problen with the 8' blade and the length covers the tire tracks even when angled.
My blade was $1,100. I considered what it would cost to pay someone to maintain my 1/4 mile drive and the $1,100 didn't seem so bad.
